The world according to blonds...

I am not blond. I tried to die my hair blond once. It turned orange. My daughter Lola is blond. She even has blond eyebrows. She loves being blond. Actually she is obsessed with all things blond.

It was cute when she was two years old, but now that she is nearly four, this obsessions with all things blond is becoming... well... not so cute. The fact that I have waited two years before intervening is most likely why this obsession has escalated to these proportions.

"I like Kasia better than Uncle Mike, because she is blond."
"Claire in my school is blond like me!"
"I will play with the blond Polly pocket and you take the brown hair one."
"I will invite all the blond girls to my birthday."
"She isn't blond, like me. But I still sat next to her at snack."
"When I am 61 and a half, I will die my hair more blond."
"B-B-B- Blond. Blonds starts with a B. Just like B-B-B-Beautiful."
"Princess Aurora is my favorite. She's blond."

Seriously, I just don't get it. I am not blond. How do I mother a blond girl? There should be a book mothers can read to understand their blond daughters. I even searched google - but no parenting books came up. "Parenting Blond Daughters" NOTHING!

Do all blonds really love their hair color?

What is it? Please help! Do I intervene? I have tried to teach her to be accepting of other hair colors. Do I smile and support her blondness? I am not willing to join the party and die my hair again. Maybe a good blond joke will lift my spirits?

Wow...it's funny how kids obsess over stuff isn't it. Maybe you could make it a point to point out pretty girls with other hair colors. Show her how beautiful Demi Moore is with her long dark locks, and how lovely Julianne Moore's red hair is...that may help her to see that all hair colors are beautiful.

What do you call a blonde with 2 brain cells?? GIFTED

What do you call it when a blonde dyes her hair brown? ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

How did the blonde break her leg while racking leaves? SHE FELL OUT OF THE TREE

i was sort of like that too when i was little and when my blond went dark, i was devestated.

now i spend 2 hours, $180, endure 50 foil strips and a "caramel, bleach, natural..." chant every 4 months to be blonde again!

is it worth it...heck yes! i say let her embrace her blond, there's really nothing like it.

Gracie calls it her yellow hair. She may not be AS crazy about it as Lola, but pretty dang close. In Gracie's case though, it seems to be getting darker all the time...eventually she'll be numbered amoung us brunettes.

About your photo question, no I didn't take it. My fantastic photographer friend did a photo shoot of the kids on our property in October. There are more from that day posted here: http://mychaosmybliss.blogspot.com/2007/10/purple-chicken-pox-and-photo-shoot.html.

You can see more of Melissa's work at http://beelissa365.blogspot.com/.

I highly recommend checking out her flickr page. She's really talented at capturing people in great moments. You can get to it from her blog. :)

Laughing my head off...! Don't they just latch onto the strangest obsessions?

I'm a blonde (only just, these days...pregnancies sent me darker and darker), and the wee man has inherited it for now, as you've seen.

Everyone loves it, and it's one more reason I've not cut the curls off...I'm sure he's going to lose the colour. At least he doesn't obsess over that...his thing is snails atm.

Be happy you just got hair colour to deal with... ;)

Why did the blond get fired from the M&M factory?
She kept throwing away the W's.

I tried to go blond once...I'm sorry I try every year when I go to the beach...bad news with my black eyebrows.

I have a red headed daughter with blue eyes...I am dark brown hair with brown eyes...I'm in trouble in more ways than one!
