My son, the man...

Jay spent the morning at a friend's house. He was so sad to see me arrive when the playdate ended. In the car I drilled him... what did he play with, what did they eat, what did they do? Talking to my five year old son feels like an interview whereas talking to my three year old daughter is a breeze, she doesn't stop. So, after my interview was over I asked him...

"Who is a better mommy? Me or Alex's mom?" As soon as I uttered the words I wanted them back. Did I really just ask him that, for fun?

"Oh. Alex's mom was way better then you." Jay replies without a moment's hestiation.

"Really?" I slouch and frown out loud. Parenting was way more rewarding when they couldn't speak.

"Yes. TOTALLY. She made rice krispie treats for us." He explains.

Oh. I get it. I forgot. My son is a man. And everyone know that the way to a man's heart is through his tummy. I didn't realize that it started THIS early.

LOL! Ouch! That's one of those be careful of what you wish/ask for kind of things.

I see rice krispie treats at your next playdate ;)

Nice to know the tummy heart connection starts so young.

I must say that being a mom is the most humbling experience EVER!
Good to know that all you have to do to be a fab mommy is make rice krispie treats. ;)

Ohmommy...

No offense meant...but DUH!!! I mean, rice krispie treats? You didn't have a chance...

Thanks, by the way...now I am craving the krispie, marshmellowy goodness, and the husband isn't home to make some (ha ha...not that he would anyway..but it is a nice thought!)...

You're still a classy mommy though!

Oh, he is such a BOY!

And yea, I've totally been there.

When I ask Isaac about his day he usually says it was "good". If I ask for details he tells me he doesn't remember. Stinker pants!

Don't you hate when you set yourself up for a fall like that? My little guy is very fickle - he loves anyone who has something for him to eat, and he's only 1. I think it's on the Y-chromosome...

This is why I keep a stash of special goodies seen only during playdates...then I become a superhero...

Rice Krispies, huh? Is this what it takes to be the best? *rubbing my hands in competitively plotting*

Oh - that smarts. Sometimes I'm not all that thrilled with how kids are so honest. I better start teaching Graham the art of flattering little white lies NOW (at least when it comes to complimenting me!)

I love that you asked that! It was the only way to get the details!
