NYC: Part 1... Relationships

When I booked our impromptu trip to NYC I was a little apprehensive about spending an entire weekend with my sister. I was worried that we would find something to argue about. We have argued about nothing, our entire lives. However, the more we age, the closer our bond becomes. Although, I am still bitter about her stealing my room when I moved out to attend college.

As much as we like to think of ourselves as different, we are very much alike. We are both passionate, hard working, stubborn, confident, loving, head strong, conservative, and of course classy women. I might be a little more laid back and she might be a little bit more out spoken... but truth be told we are quite the same. This weekend solidified our sisterly relationship. Holy guacamole my sister is as laid back as I am!!!

Furthermore.

This past weekend, I realized that my sweet little Lola is so incredibly in love with my sister, "Don't tell Uncle Mike and Dave... but I love you and Kash the most of all."

My daughter loves my sister. She LOVES her! I love that. And my sister loves her back ten times more. I love that even more.

I have been editing pictures all flipping night long and I keep stumbling back to the following pictures. See below. My daughter LOVES my sister. She admires her.

"I want Kash to babysit us, while you go back to work so we can live in NYC with her. Bye, MOM. Go back to work!"

"I miss Kash. Really bad. Really, really, really bad. Can she move to Ohio?"

"I like Kash's rules. She LETS us eat candy all the time!"

"Kash would let us stay up all night long... how come you can't?"

More awesome NYC tales to be told tomorrow. A round of applause for me, OHmommy, for editing 200 picture tonight... phew.... thank goodness for Earl Grey Tea! It only took me 4 hours.

What amazing, amazing pictures! I'm sure you will have them all matted & framed by the end of the week!!! Kash is beautiful & it looks like you had the most lovely time :)

I love watching how the kids interact with everyone and how they are attracted, naturally it seems, to certain people. My youngest is legendary for this, she will run up to certain strangers (like secretaries at my older daughters' school, or nurses at a doctors office) and give them great big hugs. Its like a sixth sense she has where she can spot a kindred spirit off in the distance. Amazing family and pictures you have there. I love hearing about sister relationships too...having three girls...warms my heart.

PS - I was second! WooHoo!! :D

I am glad things went so well with your sister. There is something so incredible and loving about a sister, especially when you aren't fighting. My sister and I are finally past that, and are really becoming great friends now too. Such a warm fuzzy!

That is one of the neatest things for me to see as well - my sister and my daughter. Even at an early age they just click :)

I love the pictures - can't wait to see more!

Irene said...

Yes, those are incredible pictures! Obviously you had a wonderful time.

I would SO love to get back to visit NYC. It is one of those places that I really wish I would have lived in and experienced when I was young and single. One of my many regrets...

John-Michael said...

Lola's expression as she looks up at Kash is beyond inspirational! I am so glad that you chose to 'abuse' yourself and endure what must have been a blinding marathon of photo editing. Thank you for that. The resulting beauty of your son's exuberance and your daughters adoration are a marvelous Gift for you to so generously give.

Loving You ever-more.

My sister is my BESTEST friend and we are so much alike, too.

Those are great pics. Too mad Oh Mommy isn't in any of them. That one bridge Lola and your sister are coming through looks like the one on Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York where the crazy bird lady hung out.

KEEP BELIEVING

Age is a funny thing, isn't it? I find that the more we age, the closer my sister and I get also. I'm glad that you got the opportunity to reform a bond with your sister and I LOVE that you and your beautiful kiddos had such a wonderful time in the city! I think you should listen to Lola and move to NYC...you would certainly have friends here!!

I live in New York, and those pictures are still just enchanting!I want to see THAT city! I find the same thing with my sister, I love her and we are the best of friends, but we find nothing to fight over and more than 24 hours together and we start getting snippy. Living in diff states makes me forget that we're like that, until my next trip home... (:

Amy said...

Awesome pics! And the relationship between those two is beautiful, just like they are. But what I really want to know is...
how did you get all the people out of Times Square to take that photo?
