If you give OHmommy rain boots....

It rained all day today and I could not have been more excited to wear my new Hunter rain boots.

However, I threw them over my jeans and realized that my outfit would not work. My jeans were simply way too bulky and boot cut. I needed skinny jeans. Skinny jeans became popular when I was pregnant with Fifi and I have had my eyes on them ever since.

I didn't want to invest in an expensive pair because skinny jeans are essentially jean leggings and my post pregnancy body is just not ready to go there yet. Yes... 15 months is considered post pregnancy in my world.

I dropped off the kiddos at preschool and ran to the store with Fifi. Marshalls... brand names for less "Shop On." Perfect for me. I was ready to get my shopping on for the perfect pair of jeans for my boots.

As we dodged the rain in my ballet flats, I noticed a huge sign in the window that read "SHOE MEGASHOP." We walked through the doors and I knew that I was in big trouble. They totally re-vamped their shoe department. They placed all 5,000 square feet of DESIGNER SHOES directly in front of the store by the entrance.

I was in trouble.

I could end the story right now and tell you that I did not even make it to the jean department and walked out with new sassy shoes instead.

That is precisely what happened.

I spent over an hour drooling over stilettos, wedges, and cute sandals. Fifi lead a path of destruction and opened every box in sight. In the newly organized shoe section, each shoe was neatly displayed on top and the available sizes were boxed underneath. It made shopping for shoes so much easier and Fifi had a blast admiring pumps and placing them in and out of their respectful boxes.

We were in shoe heaven!

"This?"

"This?" She pulled out shoe after shoe and slipped them onto her chubby feet.

I have been looking out for the perfect summer sandal for days at the park, pool, and playground. I can not do flip flops anymore for I believe my legs look too manly, heavy, and muscular. I wanted something simple and with a little bit of a heel to slim down my legs.

I found what I wanted in shoe heaven for just under 30 dollars.

Shhhh... whisper. I am afraid my Hunters will be jealous. See the newest addition to my shoe family.

If you give OHmommy rain boots, she will need jeans to match. When OHmommy shops for jeans, she gets distracted by shoes. When OHmommy buys the shoes, she finds a cute top to match. When she puts together the cutest summer outfit, it rains. And when it rains OHmommy will put on her rain boots and realize she needs skinny jeans to match.

Mr. OHmommy is hoping is doesn't rain for a while.

Was this place a DSW of sorts? We need names here! At any rate, places like this are amazing. It's kind of how I picture Heaven to be. But in Heaven there will be wine, chocolate and smoked gouda while perusing the shoes.

BTW those are excellent summer shoes. Good choice.

Excellent shoes. The bit at the end really got me though. I love "If you give a pig a pancake..." You are hilarious AND sassy!

I am not a shoe girl, but those are awesome.

I want me some rain boots, too. Badly.

Hmm, why am I feeling the need to give you a cookie? ;)

Cool shoes!

Very nice. I am just a wee bit jealous but with the new camera and the vacation this week I am a little short on spending money.

Those are adorable.
I <3 you darlin'.
I am having "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" flashbacks now. Thanks :-)

Rachel said...

Oh.. can I just say. Only skinny wenches can wear skinny jeans because anyone of any physical substance looks like a sausage in too tight casing in skinny jeans...
'K..? 'K.
Glad we got that straightened out.

Gotta love Marshalls and preschool shopping runs!

How cute are you with your shoe story! I think you probably "needed" everything that you got today and more!

Love it!

And the reference to throw a pig a party was just too cute! So creative my dear, so creative!

Laski said...

Very cute! For you, it is a viscous shoe cycle . . .

Cute new shoes! I love following your line of reasoning of how you ended up with new shoes.

It's kind of like when I go to Target to buy dog food and come out minus $250 an hour later with an iced tea maker I had to have plus a cute skirt and some summer cups...you get the idea.

Except your story's better because you got cute shoes...and Fifi left a path of destruction. lol Awesome visual.

Ah! The classic kid's tale. What will be next? If you give OHMOmmy new jammies.....

I am hoping it doesn't rain for you also because those shoes are SO cute and fun for summer!

I will never ever be able to wear skinny jeans...so good for you!

and that's all I have to say aobut that!

you know. i have skinny jeans and i hate them. i guess cuz i keep trying to wear em with slip on runners, not rain boots.

this has led me to think, especially with where i live, that i need me some rain boots, so i have something to wear my skinny jeans with.

I bought some Michael Kors skinny jeans at Marshalls that I love. Their shoes are amazing. I'm still regretting not getting a beautiful pair they had last time I was there. I should go back and get them.

What an adorable post! I'm smiling right now :)

L-O-V-E Love Marshalls! The shoe department is delish - even for kiddos! I was just there on Saturday eyeing some sweet shoe candy - YUM!

PS - Do you care if I copy your shoes? I am in Iowa, after all!?!?

Love them. Love the post. Love Marshalls.

chichimama said...

Our Marshall's just did the same thing. And I had a similar experience. But I didn't see those shoes, so cute!!!!!

And it is supposed to rain tomorrow, and I have no jeans to wear with my new pink plaid rain boots. Sigh.

Very nice shoes! I just wish my hubby wasn't almost 3 inches shorter than me. I really hate that a whole class of shoes is pretty much off limits to me (not his demand, just mine). One inch is my limit.

I love shoes though. They are one of the only things you can wear that never make you feel fat and still fit even if you gain or lose a few pounds.

Crystal D said...

Very Nice! I am sure they will show off your summer glow and classy pedicure just lovely.
I think next week I am going to treat myself to a little shopping spree. I need some new sandals and maybe some new sunglasses. New shoes and glasses and I bet people won't even notice how huge I am going to get this summer. :)

High Heeled Mama said...

I see nothing wrong with your logic and everything right with buying a new pair of shoes. Shoes and handbags are most certainly the path to happiness. Well, after the kids and hubby, of course!

Kelly said...

LOVE the shoes. We would have fun shopping together. I'm a shoe/purse/bag/accessory kind of gal, then I buy the clothes! I wish we had a Marshall's closer to us, I like that store. We do have TJMaxx though.....

Ahaha! Amazing. And I am SO glad 15 months counts at post-pregnancy...because I'm nearing 9 and this had better be my post-pregnancy body and NOT my "forever" body.

Cute shoes! Nice work :)

Carissa(GoodnCrazy) said...

My story went something like, If I go shopping for hubby's birthday...

But what I want to know is, what happens if you give OHmommy a cookie...?

Unknown said...

But shoes are such a worthwhile distraction! Glad you had fun--AND found the perfect sandals!

Unknown said...

...and so the circle of shopping goes on and on and on...

the hunters need skinny jeans. skinny jeans need cute top and jacket. cute top needs a clutch. clutch needs a headband....OMG...I. NEED. TO. GO. SHOPPING. NOW!!! off to state street, later gator!!

That shoe MegaShop should have attorneys on hand for those of who know our husbands will ask for a legal separation when we come home with the bags and bags of shoes....

As for rain boots and outfits.....as my great friend once said-

'You'll just look queer if you try to make the outfit coordinate. You just have to ROCK them.'

suchsimplepleasures said...

cute sandals...not only will they look nice with bootleg jeans but...capris, shorts, skirts. hey...you may NEVER need another pair of sandals again. won't mr. ohmommy be thrilled!!

the pool heater is on. it will be ready to go by next week. shall i expect you and your family? ;)

Love the 'Give a mouse a cookie' theme you have going on here. :0) I would have done the same thing with those shoes. Passing up cute shoes is like a sin! :0)

Only 15 months? Heck, I think 37 is post pregnancy. Love the new shoes.

I hate that my feet are barely a size 5--I cannot find anything at Marshalls but in the kids section.
I swear I have sandles like that--Cole Haan? I need to go check my closet.
Wishing you lots of sunshine for your new shoes :)

I deliberately skip the skinny jeans...I have thighs and a butt :)

Momisodes said...

Those are adorable! I'm looking for a pair like that myself. Not too much heel, but just enough to make my legs look hot (sort of).

Can't wait to see what happens when it rains during the summer!

I totally got your reference to If You Give A Pig A Pancake. I watched Charlie Gipson read it on the Today show one morning and went on a quest to find it. My grandchildren have loved it for several years.

Nice sandals too. The hunters will just have to get over themselves. They do realize they are for special times, don't they?

Oh my. Those are cute.

And in MY WORLD, post pregnancy can go on for almost five years. ;)

I never lost my post pregnancy body from Gracie. Now that's just sad. Skinny jeans would just make me look like I was cramming sausages into the legs...not pretty.

The sandals are so cute. The best of both worlds I say. Still flippys but fabulously classy ones!!

Kat said...

Those sandals are SO cute! And I love the last paragraph. Classic!

NH Yocal said...

Yes, indeed. That happened to me the other day too at Marshalls. I must have tried on fifty pair. I bought only 1 pair there. Then of course, I saw the new DSW store and had to just check it out. Another fifty pair tried on and walked out with 2 new pair. One looks similar to the ones you got!
sorry to hear about your rain boots, but heck, their not as cute anyway.

Flea said...

Let's see ... post pregnancy has gone on for nearly eleven years in my house. Baby fat. Yeah. :)

OHmommy, it's spring. Don't you know that it rains a lot in the spring? And you STILL have to find those skinny jeans.

Amy said...

Cute post, cute shoes!!
And I will never do the skinny jean thing, I just can't, I have these big old things called hips!

Wendi said...

My life must be a little chaotic too. I read this last night, but it showed up as "unread" in my reader. Silly me...I never left a comment.

I love the flops and the fabulous story that accompanied them. You are a Mommy to three children. You totally deserve them!

EatPlayLove said...

I am pretty much over seeing people in $2 Old Navy flip flops. Hate to admit it. Very cute sandals, I need a pair, but sans the platformish heel (i'm 5'11").

Gotta love the marshalls deals. Have you been to a marshalls home mega store? It's housewares on steroids!

Elizabeth Byler Younts said...

Okay that is EXACTLY what I would have done!

And those are BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love the platform and the wedge and , um, the price is the best part!

Still wanna see you in those skinny jeans and Hunters, baby ;)

After my Grandpa's funeral my mom and I stopped at Marshall's for some retail therapy...I cam ehome with three pairs of summer shoes! I say this with a sly grin. Now I just need warmer weather to show them off. Love the shoes, even I could handle that heel!

A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! I will be heading over to my local Marshalls to have a look see (afterall, it is raining here too). Oh, I am too short for skinny jeans but good luck finding a pair. I am sure they will look great on you.

Skinny jeans are scary anyway--I say you made a great choice! Love the sandals!

Those shoes are delicious. I may go to Marshalls today and see if we are having a shoe sale. Yum.

Cute shoes! I love Marshalls!!! I love their shoes too! I bought a pair of really cute sandles recently - before my vacation - they were black with rhinestones all on the top - ADORABLE. I made the mistake of not checking the shoes before I excitedly paid for them and took them home. I threw them in my suitcase to take on vacation - pulled them out to wear one day with the most perfect outfit and guess what? I had two RIGHT SHOES!!!! I had to take them back to Marshalls after my vacation and they had no more left - *sobs*. I love Marshalls.

Cute post! Have a good weekend, OHMommy - see you soon - Kellan
