Cooking in leotards with Lola

Lola by far my most pickiest eater, has been cooking by my side since infancy. On the days that she helps prepare dinner she goes to bed with a full tummy. We cook a lot together. Without further adieu I present to you, in her own words, describing the pictures:

Cooking in leotards (after gymnastics class) with four "AND A HALF" year old Lola.....

We can call this "Spice Meat." That's a funny name. Teehee.

First you have to take the potatoes out. That is first. Then, taking off their skin and wash them off. And even I washed everything off.

Put some flour in one bowl. I was putting in two scoops of sugar. I mean flour. Teehee.

Umm. Next comes this the the "Spice Crumbs." Did I put in three? Three. I put in three. Right?

I cracked it!!! I cracked the egg and then another. I cracked two eggs. Are you sending this to everyone on the dot com? Good. It's a yummy dinner. Everyone should make this yummy dinner. This is going to be a book on the dot com. Right? Right, Mama? It should say LOLA at the end.

Next comes smashing the meat. You put the meat in the bag so you don't splatter the germs. Oh, Mama you see this golden thread? Referring to the golden thread next to the computer. Can you put this golden glitter thread in my hair? It will look so fancy in my hair.

Mama rolled butter in the middle of the meat. Butter, butter, butter, butter, butter, butter....

I put the chicken in the sugar. Umm, I mean flour. Teehee. Flour, flour, flour.....

I put the chicken in the egg. Chick, chick, chicky, chicky, chick, chick, chicken....

Umm... the.... ummm... the.... Hmm. The spices! I put the chicken in the spicy crumbs.

At the end, I play with the water. No, I wasn't really playing. I. Was. Washing. The dishes!!! Teehee. And spraying everything around cause you will get germs if you don't wash your hands with water. When you wash you hands then you should wash them again. Just. To. Make. Sure.

Mashed Potatoes. Carrot slaw. Breaded Butter Chicken.

This is the food that I made. It tasted VERY good. Are we done? I don't like sitting here all day long. Mom. Don't forget to write my name at the end of the dot com. Can I have that golden thread for my hair now?

LOLA.

I love cooking with the kids...OK, well, SOMETIMES I do!
That dinner sounds delish.

That's quite a story! But please tell Lola that does look yummy. :)

That's about the cutest thing ever. You really are a good mom, OHmommy. I never had the patience to let the kids cook with me. None of were overly picky, though. Wouldn't have made a difference. :) Tell Lola that Flea says she is divine.

What a sweetie :) I love the pictures, they tell it all. And I love "and a half" . . . my four year old is the exact same way - adds that onto the end of his age every time we speak of it. I assume Lola will get to read all our comments too, since it was her post!!

That is one sweet leotard. I just love four AND A HALF year olds.

Lola,

Well done. I think you may have a future in the kitchen. As a chef or as a mommy. Beware of the chef profession, though, Lola. Reality TV has made that profession one of dog eat dog these days.

KEEP BELIEVING

I can not go into the kitchen with out my 3 and 4 yr olds following me. I always let them crack the egg, then I empty it, then I put the shell back together and let them empty the empty egg.

Your Lola was adorable in that series of pics.

Dude, butter in the middle of the chicken with eggs and flour and bread crumbs???? do NOT tell the drill sergeant at boot camp.

So obscenely cute!!! I frequently cook with the Princess, but that doesn't convince her to eat anything. Maybe we should get them together and Lola's good habits could rub off on her. K?

Carissa(GoodnCrazy) said...

The kink of the neck at the end...

And did you say carrot slaw? Cool.

SHE IS SO FLIPPIN ADORABLE. ITs hysterical that I just learned how to make breaded chicken this year at age 28...

Braeg Heneffe said...

I think i could even start cooking following those instructions, now which is it, flour or sugar :)

So cute and adorable!
I never have the patience to let TB cook - it's just too messy and he always gets bored half way through and starts trailing food items through the house. How do you do it?

Anonymous said...

Awwwwwwww, too gorgeous. If I did that with my girls it would be all 'grunt' 'grumble' 'are we done yet' 'I think I am vegetarian now'

Anonymous said...

That is ultra sweet!!! I love that you put it all in her words as well.

Anonymous said...

Will she come over and cook for me?

Dear Lola,
Your recipe looks delicious. That's a fancy word for good. Have you ever read a "Fancy Nancy" book? My girls have all of them & love them! I love how you described all of the steps it took to make your dinner. Maybe some day you'll have a show on the food network. Do you think that would be fun? We'd sure watch you!
Hugs from Iowa!!!

Lola...you are so fancy you take my breathe away. And I am sure you are the best helper and I know that you are one of the prettiest helpers EVER.

I would buy your book....LOLA! Thanks for making me smile, sugar (or is it flour?). Teehee. :-)

Courtney said...

That was so cute. I love how it was narrated by Lola. Great job Lola!!

I love cooking with my boys too. It's a great learning experience for them too!

Anonymous said...

Awwww, that was so cute!

I remember when my oldest turned 4, he always made sure to add in there how many months he was, eg. 4 and a quarter, 4 and a half. When he was giving his first piano recital, his teacher introduced him and said he was 4 years old to which he took a huff and said in front of the whole audience, "No I'm not, I'm 4 AND THREE QUARTERS!!" The whole place cracked up and I'm still reminded of it almost 8 years later!!

Crystal D said...

Please tell Lola that everyone on the dot com just loved her cooking lesson. I would be very interested in getting her recipe for the carrot slaw.
Also, your sister's post today is awesome!

Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? said...

I make this, too, but I've never made it with butter rolled in it.

Nor have I ever made it in a leotard!

And, I love your square bowls.

Anonymous said...

Wait this looks like something my boys might eat - can we get the actual recipe? I think I've got most of it but the butter and cooking part...She is a great helper!

Thanks!

It's settled, she needs her own cooking show called "Cooking in Leotards with Lola". And she will always have a golden thread in her hair, it'll be part of wardrobe. :)

You have a little (cute!) chef on your hands!!

This is the best post I have ever read/seen. I have a 5 year old and I imagine that cooking with her (if she were interested) would be the same experience, leotard, conversation and all. She, however, hates getting her hands dirty so cooking is almost never of interest to her. Bummer! Anyway, thanks for sharing a wonderful event with us.

Anonymous said...

This is by far my favorite post. This is adorable. Go Lola. I can see you on the food network very soon!

CC said...

I just love Lola! Tee hee!

I thought my 5 year old was becoming a great cook. But he obviously doesn't compare to Lola.

But do YOU have pictures of your Kindergartener cooking in a pink dress with a rainbow heart on it? I do.

The 5 Bickies said...

So Yummy Lola. You can cook me dinner any day...especially because you have great hand washing!

April said...

"on the dot com" - tee hee. You're such an amazing mom, OhMommy. You humble me every time!

Lolly said...

Hi OhMommy and Lola! I would really LOVE your recipe. I (am learning to) cook dinner for my (the world's most adorable and picky) twin girls, Merrie and Gracie, who are 16 months. They like to pretend to stir their little plastic bowls while I cook! I have been craving some yummy (bad, bad, bad for me) fried chicken but this would be much better for me and the babies could try it as well... We would love to enjoy the flour/sugar chicken too, please :).

Wonderful!

Wow Lola. You are a MUCh better cook than I am? Will you come over and give us lessons?

The recipe sounds delish. Lola's cooking class? I'd sign up in a heartbeat!

Amy said...

Cooking with the girls is the BEST! I love how they "help". And your chicken sounds yummy, will definitely have to try it some night. I'm all about quick and easy recipes. And if Lola can do it, I'm sure I can too!

Quarantine Hobby said...

That was a great book from Lola on the dot com. Loved it :)

And dinner looked yummy!

Anonymous said...

What an adorable post.. but I LOVE HER COOKING CLOTHES!!!! How awesome!!!

Unknown said...

They can be fine for hip hop dancing but if you're taking more traditional dance classes, such as ballet or jazz, then you need plus size Leotards
