Who am I kidding? I really AM a mommy blog.

In my head, I had written the most eloquent non-mommy blog post about clothes and shopping. I was going to use delicious words to describe my wardrobe staples. Items that I have searched high and low for in the last decade. The sexy pencil skirt, the little black dress, the most perfect pair of jeans, and other necessary items that I love.

Anyone interested in fashion can appreciate the effort that goes into acquiring staples to complete a well rounded wardrobe. I don't just shop for the sake of shopping. I really do not shop often. I shop, on a mission, to buy that one perfect item that will compliment my collection.

My latest mission. To find a pair of skinny jeans to match the boots I bought in May. I admit. Sometimes, on my mission, I get distracted and find other things. Like the world's cutest sweat suit, it was calling my name. And the most adorable quilted jacket for winter, it was so happy to see me. But I did not purchase the classy black cocktail dress or the new leopard print ballet flats and I didn't even go near the jewelery. I did finally find the skinny jeans to match my boots.

Mission accomplished.

I was going to describe the thrill of finding such delicious staples. How I felt as I slipped on those skinny jeans and twirled around, how I marveled at the delicate gold zipper on the quilted jacket, and drooled over the plushness of the velour sweat suit. The scrumptious words danced around in my head. Finding clothes that perfectly complete my wardrobe is one of my nirvanas.

No where in my post was I going to mention being a mommy and no where in my post was I going to use the words diapers, toddler, and trouble.

I was going to share photographs of my treasures.

Elie Tahari quilted jacket. Perfect.

I had my purchases laid out and my Nikon in my hand and I was writing the best fashion post in my head....

Who am I kidding? I really am a mommy blogger. Enter the toddler that created trouble.....

My sweet baby girl, my little monkey, my third child climbed on top of the dinning room chair and began pulling at the tags of the jacket and the chandelier nearly fell on to the dinning room table that was purchased before she was born as a gift from my husband that was thrilled when I agreed that two children completed our family so he agreed to buying the table. Ahem.

All while in a very dirty diaper.

I turned off my camera, folded my purchases, and silently admitted to myself that I am a mommy blogger while changing the troubled toddler's diaper. And. That is totally okay.

Diapers. I have three winners from my Pampers giveaway. Please email me your address so that I can send out your coupon for free jumbo packs of diapers: Laski Girl, Allison Says, and the MomBabe.

I don't like thinking of myself as a mommy blogger - but the truth is, I talk about poop too much to be anything else.

Congrats to the winners!!
I am a mom who blogs, I'm also a foodie, a photographer, a wife, a Christian and a great big dork who blogs :-)

Love you.

Oh, is being a mommy blogger a bad thing? Why do I keep missing these subtleties?

Fabulous jacket, fabulous toddler. It's all good!

Jeni said...

Love that jacket! You did really good on that purchase, for sure! Also did really good in that the chandelier didn't come completely crashing down too! Kids! They sure can keep you moving, can't they? But what would you ever do without 'em too?

Heather said...

Being a mommy blogger isn't so bad. And you have 3 adorable reasons to be one. Congrats on the jacket.

Rhea said...

Yes, you are a mommy blogger, but so much more than that. You see the world as a woman and a mom, and that rocks.

Adorable jacket!

The irony of the third child with the dirty diaper ON the gifted table for no more children is priceless.

Congrats to the winners!

You may be a mommy blogger, but that's not necessarily a bad thing -- and you are a very good one. With an awful lot of fascinating things to add about travel and photography for a start. And also? A really really great jacket.

Ah that post is all too good. How is it that they know the exact moment to do wrong, and go one step further. But we still love 'em.

Here's the post about hanging laundry:

Have a great week!

Who said being a "mommy blogger" was a bad thing? It's what makes you accessible to all of us out here who have kids and WISH we had your "class."

You'll always be a "special interest" blog in my book. :)

Eve Grey said...

Hey mommy blog or not, no teasing! I need to see those skinny jeans and velour sweatsuit!

Alpaca Farmgirl said...

I know. You can't get away from it. I try so hard to blog about my business, but I write about the kids way more than I should to be "professional(?)". Sigh.

Wretched mommy bloggers. At least you'll be the best dressed.

;-)

Well, your readership is not limited solely to moms. And I know a heck of a lot more boring mommy blogs than yours.

That jacket is divine.
So yeah, you're a mommy blogger (unfortunately, or is that fortunately, it's a state a lot of us cross at times). The great thing is you're also a woman blogger too, and you can so show us the rest of your buys.

Don't worry, when they're all in school someday you can pretend that you actually have a life independent of them for a few hours each day. After that crying jag because Holy cow! My babies are all grown up!

We will always be mommy bloggers and that is ok because we have interesting stories to tell. Cute Fifi!

Sounds just like what I go through here at my house sometimes. :)

Love the jacket!!!

You have to be one of the Classiest Mommy Bloggers out there. No. You ARE the Classiest Mommy Blogger out there. After all, you showed us the Jacket and the table and the chandelier. You did NOT take poopy diaper pictures, thank you very much. That's class.

Yes you are a mommy blogger however, you are one of the stylish mommy bloggers I have ever seen.

I think we all like to fancy ourselves as non mom bloggers but lets face it....when we have such adorable creatures nipping at our ankles; it is impossible to not fall victim to mommy blogger. Or if your pre-teen daughter tries to wear a skirt that can only be described as a napkin. *sigh*

So jealous. I want to go shopping. Now.

A Crafty Mom said...

Mommies can go shopping too - absolutely!!! I think the jacket is fab and I'm glad you got the jeans too! And I think seeing Fifi in the picture just makes it all *real* :-)

Oh, poor OHmommy. Maybe if you change your name to OHfashion??? Maybe that would help?

Dang it...no diapers for me? Maybe next time?

Mommy blogger, yes ... HOT mommy blogger in new skinny jeans because you are kicking butt at a crazy 6am boot camp class, yes.

Keep on blogging about life ... as it comes! That's what keeps your readers coming back (mommy or not!)

I sometimes try to make my blog classy and sophisticated and not mommy like at all. And then I end up posting about poop, or vomit, or other weird things that can only be brought on by being a parent. I've pretty much given in.

I really am just a mommy blogger. Even while in Las Vegas recently with all the fabulous stores, no kids, adults only, I came home with mostly stuff for the babies. Cute stuff, but still, not for me.

Caroline C. Bingham said...

Oh my life! I actually won something? That I can totally use to boot? AWESOME.

And this is totally off topic, but can you please if you please tell me the paint color of your dining room? It's Gor.Geous.

Loving the jacket!!

You know? It's okay to be a mommy blogger. It comprises one identity you create for yourself and never lose. And, Fifi you little tyke! You can't climb like that.

Quarantine Hobby said...

Wow, I won something! How exciting :)

It's totally okay to be a mommy blogger.

Cute jacket!

Mommy blogger is such a vague term in my mind. It seems that if you blog and happen to have chidren you are automatically grouped into the mommy blogger category. And I'm totally fine with that. :)

Oh what fun! Wear the mommy blogger label proudly!

I, um, told a Polish joke today on my blog. Sorry. It's a really old, predictable one, but also one of my favorites. Next Monday I'll tell a Cajun joke to make up for it(I'm a quarter Cajun French).

Please come visit me and give me a wardrobe makeover. I don't even know what wardrobe stables I am missing to be able to hunt them down. Everything in my closet screams, "An engineer lives here!" That can't be well rounded, can it? lol

Clare said...

Too cute!! Luv the jacket, and please tell us more about all of the staples you have. Still building back my wardrobe, from losing all of the baby weight! help needed:)
