The dress of Christmas Past.
The dress of Christmas Present.
The dress of Christmas Yet to Come.
I think Fifi was trying to tell me something when she whipped Santa's stuffed penguin across the floor, "Bad enough I am wearing the same dress to the same venue two years in a row!!! Next year I'll be big enough to fit into Lola's. AND. I am so NOT WEARING THAT DRESS, handed down, for another two years!!!!"
Which in theory, she could quite possibly, perhaps, maybe, eventually have four years worth of pictures on Santa's lap, at our church's annual holiday breakfast, IN THE SAME DRESS. I am no Scrooge and don't need the spirits of Christmas tomorrows to show me that this could lead to some major therapy as an adult for her. No?
"Ghost of the Future," he exclaimed, "I fear you more than any spectre I have seen."

I like how cheerful her siblings look! love the pictures!
I know these are never pleasant at the time, but I really think that screaming-kid-with-Santa pictures are adorable! Oh and guess what? You knew we moved, right? Well, our church here has us working with the toddlers again. Someone is really trying to send us a message, I am sure.
Awww Fifi, it's okay! You still look adorable! I love Jay's smile and his pose...just standing there be all relaxed, like he doesn't even hear her in the background. When you find something you like, it's so hard to take it out of rotation! Especially something like a holiday outfit, that is hardly worn!
Oh, the horrors! :)
Personally, I think it's Santa...he can be a pretty scary guy to the under two crew ;)
Those pictures are so cute.....poor Fifi....he is a little scary!!
We just had our little visit with the man in red....aka, "The Scary Man"....that is what Sarah calls him!
Have a great week!!
She's all "If Perez Hilton posts this dress repeat on his blog, I'm SO holding you responsible, Mom!!"
So , So cute!
My little sister had to wear the same dress for years. More than just the next Christmas. She still talks about it. But, she turned out OK. She is a counselor now so maybe that might have something to do with it. I love screaming children and Santa pics. I saw there is a new book with them out. Great coffee table book for Christmas.
I have a feeling we will be duplicating the same Santa pictures as last year with the same terrified face...just a different outfit.
Your kids are beautiful!
That is hilarious. If I tried this, I probably would have THREE crying kids. Yup, NONE of my kiddos want to get anywhere near Santa.
My little one feels the same way about Santa.
However, being the recipient of pretty, pretty hand-me-down dresses from her sister and her sister's neighborhood friends is working out quite well for her so far.
Poor Fifi!! That face.
The kids look adorable, despite the crying munchkin.
Haha, yep, there is definitely some flipping off going on there! I wonder where she got that from SAHMommy???? haha.
In every single Santa photo of my little brother and I - he is screaming just like Fifi with his hands in his mouth and I'm reaching across Santa's lap to console him.
I totally understand. Totally. But the dress *is* awfully cute, I'd get as much use out of it as I could!
Maybe as bloggers we can get a discount on therapy? TOF has 2 years of pictures with Santa that look just like Fifi. We tried again today, I'll post pics on my blog tomorrow. What kind of permanent damage do you think this might cause?
Oh how I love the same dresses...and the idea that they'll be passed down to use for another few years!
My youngest one LOVES wearing her sister's clothes - though by the time she fits into most of them, they're pretty worn out. We've decided now to just let her wear them - despite them being too big.... though it sure does annoy her big sister who can't bear to share!
It's a cute dress -- nothing to cry over! :)
I was just telling my mother-in-law that I hope I don't end up with a "Crying Kid with Santa Picture, but yours are CUTE! Hopefully, I'll be that lucky (but probably won't since my daughter makes some SCARY FACES when she screams!)
Following In My Shoes
oh my...so sad and yes still so cute. I fear the same fate for my little one....
~K
there's nothing like a crying child in santa's lap.
;-)
I'll need to start smocking after Easter to get ready for next Christmas. :) Maybe a deep green baby corduroy? I have some gorgeous patterns that would look great on your girls. Ooo! A really pretty pattern with the original done in a mocha velvet!
Could be worse.
I have 3 YEARS of pictures of Too dressed in army fatigues with a cap pulled down.
Too is a GIRL.
That is the best Santa picture ever. Oh, the agony on that face-- life is just so tough. Poor Fifi!! (But they do look adorable!!)
This is too adorable...thats how my lil princess looked last year around Santa and hey, at least yours are in dresses...mine was in jeans!
I think they look so adorable...esp. the other calm to just smiling away.
my kids had the same look as Fifi. Except it was because Santa arrived to greet the children outside. And it was 19. And the line was looooonnng.
Tee Hee Hee. Sweet little Fifi. Madeline is just brave enough this year to ask to see Santa. Amelia is "not sittin' on his lap." Every other year we have passed Santa at the mall or anywhere else they just cling to me.
poor baby girl!!
It's a beautiful dress though. Fifi, it could have been so much worse!
Awe, but it is such an adorable dress.
I love Jay's pose and expression. He is so oblivious to all the commotion going on with Fifi. I guess it is a great attitude too have when you have two sassy little sisters! :)
So cute! We'll see how peanut does with Santa. Pookie cried her second year going to see him and did not want to see him until this year. Cute dresses!
I love this post! I laughed because this is so true!
Oh how funny! Fifi just isn't happy about Santa, is she? My kids would freak, too! And my Cupcake is going to have the same issues in life since I've been having fun matching her with Punky! HA!
Oh, poor Fifi. She is just overwhelmed by it all and just doesn't know how to cope. But not to worry. By the time she's 20, she'll be coping just fine.
Ah the family Christmas picture...it just would not be great unless one of the kids were terrified/angry/sad!
Jay's all like suckas I'm not wearing the same clothes!! LOL
But it's a good dress! Gotta get as much use as possible...
Aww, the pictures are too cute. Sorry she had it a little rough.
My son won't even go near him..at least she sat on his lap..
And I would not be too upset if I got to wear that dress two years in a row..it is adorable!!
OK - it may be wrong of me, but I totally love the photos! The cry- your -eyes -out- santa- photos are the best!
I'm with Laura, I ADORE "real" photos with Santa! Bring on the tears and goofy faces because they are far funnier in a few years than some cheesy plasti-smile!
Sometimes, don't you wish Santa blogged?
Poor Fifi. And lol, I agree with April, that would be an awesome blog. :)
But it's such a CUTE dress! LOL
Du wear the same dress?
I rest my case.
(free counsel provided to FiFi free of charge)
I'm just thinking how much bigger they look this year. Poor Fifi just isn't a St Nick fan, is she?
Last years, I only had 1 kid w/ Santa. This year, I got to be in it and no one but me looked into the camera. GAH
lol maybe if you just change the tights and shoes, she'll like it more? lol :)
I love it!!! That was totally us last year. But they sure all look adorable together - poor Fifi, it's such a natural part of being a kid to sit on Santa's lap and cry! And *gorgeous* dresses, they look absolutely sweet so I don't care how many years in a row they get worn ;-)
I love pictures like this! I have a photo of my son trying to grab at some strange woman just out of range. He didn't care if he didn't know her, he just didn't want to be with Santa!
LOL
Poor thing. She looks most uphappy.
Is it Murphy's law or Santa's that you can never get all three Children smiling brightly at the same time? My kids wear new clothes each year (gifts from a relative... not my doing) and we still get at least one making Fifi's face.
Dare I say it out loud, but I kind of miss those days! You feel horrible, but I love the pictures. Mariah looks back now and can't figure out why she was so scared then. Makes for funny memories!
the kids look great...and the dresses are so sweet.
the picture of your youngest crying, we all have those and we love them.
she'll have a good laugh one day about that.
I have several years worth of the same screaming child photos (some Santa, some Easter Bunny). The things we force our children to do for the sake of a photo.
I'm hoping forcing her to sit on the scary man's lap won't cost me thousands in therapy fees.
"And for that, Fifi, there will be an extra gift under the tree for you!"
Poor Fifi I must say I have been lucky the Santa picture Gods have been with me!
I'm always so bummed b/c my kids never have matching outfits...but maybe that is a GOOD thing so my little girl doesn't have to wear the same outfit for 4 years in a row :)
We'll be seing them on Tyra or Dr. Phil discussing why they have issues and it stemming from their childhoods. Ha-ha!!!
They look cute!!! All of them. :)
We skipped the pictures this year for this very reason. My daughter would do this very same thing. Only instead of standing tall and looking handsome(like your son) my son would hit her. We don't need that.
If I didn't know any better, I would think that poor Fifi had been sitting there on Santa's lap crying for one whole year. :)
One of those pictures belongs on that Web site with the pictures of kids crying on Santa's lap. ;-)
Did you see my post from today? Quite the same look on my little man's face while sitting on Santa's lap! Cute post!
You will probably remember this photo session much longer than all the rest. We skipped the 1 & 2 year old photos with Santa to avoid the scene, and I sort of regret it now.
I think it is absolutely priceless!
