Online smooches

Tonight Jay fell asleep watching an electric storm of lightening. Lola dozed off to a rainbow of polka dots dancing across her ceiling. And Fifi, sweet little Fifi, passed out in my arms on the way to her crib with dreams of pink butterflies.

Christmas came early thanks to modern technology.

A Target package arrived, some time ago, with one plasma lightening ball, one disco ball, and a plush butterfly pillow that were ordered in Mali, Africa by my sister on her wireless laptop. I wrapped the gifts and vowed to her that the children would open them up online, on skpe, in her presence.

Although across an ocean and on the other side of the world, she wanted to witness the magic of Christmas with my children.

This morning we called her and she danced with Lola and Fifi on the computer screen and observed Jay's curiosity. The call was cut short, as we needed to pack for Chicago, three kids planted a kiss on the web camera and computer screen.

The marks of three sloppy kisses are smudged across my screen. I hope they found their way to Timbuktu. Merry Christmas. We love you!

I love modern technology. My new laptop and my college kid's are both equipped with built in vid-conference features. Now, when she is away at school, I can still 'see' her when we call.

You painted such a lovely picture of the joy your kids found in their aunts presents. She must have been thrilled to be able to share that from so far away.

Happy Holidays to the OHMommy Family!

What a great idea, I'll have to try that with my nephew. I love seeing his face when he opens my gifts.....and then tosses it aside, to play with the wrapping paper and empty box....sigh.

That is just incredible! My laptop has a built in webcam and I have no idea how to use it. How does Skype work? I'll have to look into it we have many family out of state. I'm so technologically illiterate.

Hope your sister's feeling better.

That is awesome that your sister can stay in touch with her family, especially with the visuals. How lonely to be away from the family after being sick and now the holidays are upon us. Have a great holiday!
