Perhaps we can call it Christmas spirit?

Why it took us the entire afternoon to decorate one Christmas tree in our family room.

Rinse. Lather. Repeat. Times six years of kid's Christmas ornaments and each one needed a story.

Yes. We have more then one tree. It is going to be a long week.

Our fireplaces look so similar! ;-)

Love those pictures and i feel you! It took us for-ever to decorate ours for the very same reason. 30 years of ornament history.. plus.. so, I feel you.

She is too stinkin' cute for words!

Oh but a fun week, no?

Aw, but how many trees? I'm afraid to ask.

(We have the same PB stockings.) ;)

Awww, it will be so much fun! I LOVE decorating the tree.

I love the stories too. When we were growing up, we each got a new ornament each year. When we moved to our own houses, we had a box of ornaments from our whole lives to take with us. It was such a nice tradition that I'm doing the same with our kids. (We only have one tree, though.) What fun pictures! Happy decorating.

Oh sweet! You are a patient woman.

Wow...making me feel guilty. I haven't even thought about decorating:P
Can I do it in Illustrator...

Kat said...

Oh but that is the best part of decorating the tree! The story of the ornaments!
Of course I do only have one tree, so that helps. ;)

Thank goodness I only have one old enough to actually decorate ... and he's old enough that I can send him off on a 'more important' decorating mission so I can get the trees up in no time myself ... we do a main tree and then the kids each have one for their bedroom for Santa to leave a gift under.

Tyne said...

She is a character. I love that she had a story for each one. We tried to make dough ornaments today, it was a similar situation- fun, but not quite productive.

Val said...

I have got to get going on mine. Are those all Santas on your mantel? I collect Santas so when I see some I usually notice.

Last year, we didn't get the tree until Christmas EVE! You've inspired me, we'll try for this weekend and post photos.

She will really remember these ornament story days... traditions ;)

I'm hoping to get the tree up this weekend. Your living room looks lovely!

I used to love ornament stories--I am usually the slow one when we decorate. We still need to even get our tree too!

Those pictures are SO warm and inviting. Can I curl up by your fireplace?

That is so cute!

And, when she gets older, you can give her some of the ornaments to share with her family and tell the stories!

Hahaha!
Too funny...we are doing our tree this weekend, yeah!
Im sure there will be a post about it too. :)

How many trees do you have?

Half Gaelic, Half Garlic! said...

It is never an easy task with little ones "helping"....or questioning....but in the end it is so worth it. I love to see the joy they get out of the little things!!

Forgive me Classy for I have sinned.....

I am shammed to admit that the main tree, the big one in the family room is strictly for decoration. No ornamental anything that doesn't fall in 'the color scheme'.

This makes me a bad bad mom, right?

That is too cute!! Your tree and mantle look gorgeous!

We have more than one tree this year too. But no stories just yet. How fun!

Pretty Tree! We are putting ours up this weekend. Each of the girls has a little pink princess tree. Peanut noticed this year and she loves it but she keeps wanting to pick it up and play with it. We all have tree allergies so it is artificial for us.

Happy decorating! Cute Pics!

Oh I would much rather do it her way. My girls had the tree done in like 3 minutes flat. It was all about who could get the most ornaments on. No matter that they were all on the same branches!! Next year, we're doing a kid tree in the play room and I'm getting my Martha Stewart like color coordinated masterpiece downstairs!

I set our mantel up, too! I want to make a nice garland with lights, though. I hope I can find what I'm looking for at the store today!

I'm kind of nervous with those stocking holders, though. Training time! LOL

Sreken Bozik do vas!

too cute! That's one of the reasons why the kidlets have their own tree.

We have more than one tree too.. The one in the breezeway in our house is fake..we get the real on in about a week.. but I totally get the abundance of ornaments..LOL

Your mantel is beautiful!

These pictures reminded me of a little tasmanian devil, too fast to get a clear picture of. Since you say she's always on the go, that's why I thought that...

Very cute!

I still have the Twilight giveaway up for grabs on my blog. Deadline to enter is Thursday!

Cute pictures!

Christmas really is the best time of year, isn't it?

Burgh Baby said...

I'm using the kid as my excuse for taking so long to get my five trees up. It's more fun with a helper, but it sure did go faster when I didn't have to answer questions about every single ornament. Repeatedly.

How adorable!

Oh but it's so worth it, right? And look at it this way, you'll probably be done BY Christmas! : )

I can't wait for this moment with my own children!!!

Everything is so pretty! When you're kids are older they will be telling you those stories. It's so important for young families create their own special traditions. Your kids will look forward to these times every year, even when they are teenagers.

Oh what FUN! I'll be breaking out the Christmas this week. Time to make eggnog!!

Karen MEG said...

So cute!
I've been seriously thinking about another tree too, one for the kids and another adult one... but who the heck am I kidding, who's got the energy but OHMommy ;)?! We do the bannister, though, and the fireplace too... oh geez...

I guess I'd better get crackin!!!

Lisa said...

we got all pumped to decorate tonight & the flipping lights didn't work. AUGH!

LUCKILY there is a skinny tree in the family room, and the girls each have a tree. They went to bed satisfied after that!

C and C Mommy said...

That is why I love, love Christmas....the memories!!

Good luck!!

Stephanie said...

oh boy, I get so excited and then I slowly turn into the ornament protection police. Sigh. I think we all survived.

My son and husband decorated over the weekend. Number One would pull out an ornament and yell "HAPPY HALLOWEEN!" Oh boy...I have work ahead of me.

The fireplace looks awesome. I love your tree too.

Stacy said...

Too funny! I love the photos of the what you have decorated thus far :)

Kellan said...

I know, I know, I know - they want to be right in the middle of all the Christmas spirit, don't they?! Cute pictures!

Hope you are having a good week and getting all those decorations up and in their places. I am still working on the last of ours - will be done today if it kills me.

See you soon - Kellan

Little kids (and big ones) get so excited about ornaments and Christmas. I love that your ornaments HAVE stories. Some people put up trees with generic ornaments. They look pretty but they don't have character.

Unknown said...

am surprised it only took one afternoon! that girl sure can talk...A LOT :)

Angie @ KEEP BELIEVING said...

Our Christmas tree is completely segregated. Gavin decorated HIS SIDE with all HIS ornament. Grant decorated HIS SIDE with all HIS ornaments. It is not an equal opportunity tree in this house.
