My Rx: hearts & sparkles & everything else

To the loving mother that did an amazing job raising an incredible man...

You did it once. Twice. And you can beat it again for a third time.

Jay sends to you, lots of "hearts and love and I-love-yous and more hearts."

Lola sends to you, lots of "glitter and sparkles and more and more sparkly glitter."

And Fifi sends to you, everything else that is missing, at once. She, the third, completes the picture.

And I send to you, every inch of our stubbornness that must run in our family to give you the strength and the courage you need to fight breast cancer for the last time.

Forever grateful for what you created. Fight.

As blasphemous as this sounds, I was blatantly defiant of God when I found out my grandmother had breast cancer. I was in college. She had seen me through some major troubles, when everyone else hung me out to dry. So when I found out, I clearly remember saying, "God, don't you DARE take her from me. Not now." She won. I hope your MIL does, too.

My mother has battled breast cancer (10 years ago), lung cancer (2 years ago - considered a recurrence of her breast cancer) and brain cancer (last year - more recurrence). And she's STILL here and still fighting and still maintaining a good quality of life. Cancer research has come a long way - and this combined with your mother in law's strength will get her through another fight. Hopefully she really won't ever have to live to fight another day. She can just live to live. Much love to all of you.
