No future DNA tests needed...

tape + paper + one naked Barbie = future fashionista

"Fashion design. Faaaaaaaashion design. I am fashion designing! Fashion design. Faaaaaaaaaashion design. I am fashion designing!" Her voice echoed in our empty house while she feverishly cut away at the paper and tore apart perfectly equal pieces of tape.

It was on this day that I realized she was mine.

That is so fun!

My 3 1/2 yr old strips hers naked and runs into the room naked and shows me that both her and the doll have "bodies". That means she is going to be a doctor right??? RIGHT!!!

I feel a mother of the year award coming. You have clearly raised the kid right :)

Lynette3boys said...

She is so creative. That reminds me of when I was a kid. I would make life-size paper clothes. I must have played with paper dolls too much.

What an awesome dress! I once saw a girl make a dress for herself out of duct tape!

Barbie is looking good.

Apparently, our children were separated at birth...

I realized mine for mine when I heard them cursing like a drunken sailor! Oh well!
She is a cutie pie!

I think that's so much more creative than dressing the dolls in those stupid clothes that you can't button anyway.

I love the creativity!

Project Runway contestants are getting younger and younger. Why not put her in an internship this summer. Has she seen True Jackson yet?

and last night my daughter told me she wanted to have a family of gorillas at the zoo she will be the zoologist at....how did THAT happen?

Stephanie said...

Love it!! I would be head over heels if my daughter was doing this. Love the girly-ness!

Kari said...

That is hilarious! And, she did a GREAT job. Paper is NOT easy to work with! Very classy, too! No question...she is yours.

Crystal D said...

Oh man that is cute. I think Madeline would love to do this, but her "everything-must-be-exactly-perfect" self would probably win. She can't even deal when the clothes that come with barbies don't fit exactly right.
And I love that she had a sing-song voice while she designed. That is perfect.

HA HA HA - love this!!!!!!!

My five yr. old granddaughter prefers to dress her dolls in toilet paper.

At least she wasn't cutting Barbie's hair off and becoming a hair stylist. Super Cute!!!

A classic pinstripe, strapless gown for her first design?! Impressive!

Momisodes said...

That is awesome and so creative. I see a sewing machine in her near future!

MommyTime said...

I LOVE it. She is not much younger than I was when I got my first sewing machine -- a scaled down model that really worked. I'll bet she would love that too.

That is just too cute!!!

That is darling!

Cute! My little girl loves to "put makeup" on all her barbies with markers. As if the dolls don't already have purple eyeshadow to their eyebrows!

Someone Being Me said...

Too cute. I only have a boy and he is all his daddy. The other day he took the patty off his hamburger and ate only that. My child would never leave the bun behind.

Michele said...

Yes, I love the Barbie outfit. She definitely takes after you. Classy girl!

I think my oldest might be yours, too.

Classy Fab Sarah said...

I wish I had that much creativity as a child. My Barbie would have just gone naked.

Gretchen said...

Hee Hee very cute. At first I thought the thing on her neck was tape because she'd possibly been "beheaded" by Jay or somethting. Then I thought it was a whiplash brace. Only as my third thought did I realize it was one of those choker things. See you can tell that *I* will never be a FAAAAAASHION designer. :-)

Miss M said...

That's adorable. Reminds me of my Barbie days... Ahhh...

lislynn said...

:) Cutie pie.

Jessica said...

Oh how I long for a dress like that...

How sweet is that! I hope to have a girl someday. I look forward to playing dress up, Barbie and maybe even fashion designer.

She is her Mommy's girl!! :-) Very cute.

I think I see a future Andy from Pretty in Pink in the works, keep her away from the richies and don't let any one named Ducky befriend her

I love it.....just like her Mommy!!

What a gorgeous dress. That doll is definitely ready for the cat walk!

And she's a "doll" herself! : )

Zoeyjane said...

Start saving for FIT. That place is EXPENSIVE. ;)

Try giving her some yarn and old tights and teeshirts - that's how I started designing for Barbie.

Maura said...

Mrs. Obama is on line two -- she's looking for hot young designers like her!

looks like you have a future designer on your hand.

ACH said...

Love it. I think my mother had the same thought when I started reupholstering my dollhouse furniture...

Kari said...

Oh, that is just perfect!

haha, well thats rather good news, because speaking from experience Older Cousins + Littler Cousin (being me) + Scissors + Barbie = Traumatized for life, I wish I knew every detail to what happended but I do know that I am successfully terrified of barbie's and think they are going to come alive and hurt me. The only things I can muster up from being 4 is watching them cut her hair and dangle her by her head, then it goes blank and turns into me running down the stairs of my cousins house being a crying raving lunatic child. Glad to see your child will have fonder memories of barbies :0) haha

Kristina said...

Very creative!

Katie said...

That is so cute! I don't think I could have ever thought of that as a kid. Do they have a "Project Runway" for the under 10 crowd yet?

Jaina said...

Oh oh oh!! My cousins and I used to do that at holidays and birthdays with wrapping paper and tissue paper. It was SOOOOOO much fun.
