STOP. I just found the most comfiest pair of ballet flats. Ever. And don't judge me!

This just in.... I need to share my joy with you.

I freaking LOVE nice shoes. I like nice shoes for my children too. I will be the first to admit that I spend a lot of money on European leather shoes for all of my children. I don't even shop at Stride Rite anymore. Call me a snob. I am a shoe snob.

I don't care if you can't relate with me.

Last week, sweet sassy Texan Mama, wrote a comment that made me think hard "I'm sorry I cannot relate with you... But I chuckled when you said, 'I fired my housekeeper to pay the tuition for Kumon.' Uh, the last housekeeper I had was when I was a teenager and my mom vacuumed my room."

I thought about it for a long time before I replied. In the end I said that I didn't care if she relates to me or not because that is the beauty of reading blogs. Learning about people's lives, ideas, and dreams. This is really me, my details, my life, it's me. Can you imagine reading blogs that were all the same. We would learn nothing from one another, no?

I read some awesome blogs from wonderful people that I can't relate too at all but I'm fascinated. That's the beauty of the internet. Click and go and make connections or not.

So. Back to my point. My name is OHmommy and I am a shoe snob. Ok, now let's talk about good shoes.

Ahem. My most favorite pair of everyday shoe is the Tory Burch Reva flat. Retail value and never on sale they cost two hundred dollars. Yes. For a pair of ballet flats. I know that not everyone can relate with spending THAT much money on a pair of shoes. That I wear 300 days of the year. That I love. That I think are well worth it.

However, I found another pair of flats that are as comfy, if not more, these:

These bad boys were originally $120.00 and now on sale for: $59.99

Like any respectable shoe ho, I wore them for a total of six hours indoor, before determining if they were wearable (Note: You must always wear shoes for a couple of hours indoors before determining whether or not they should be returned. That is what my Saks saleslady told me). At first the leather was tough and I wasn't comfy at all, but after four hours the leather finally gave in and WOW the leather soles were amazing. Comfy. Awesome. So comfy!!! OMG. They are comfortable.

And.

I was in love. Seriously. THE most comfiest ballet flats I have ever owned. I kid you not. I do not want to take them off . I have worn them as slippers inside for well over 12 hours.

I love. I recommend. I heart very much. I am wearing them to bed tonight. The true sign of a shoe ho in love.

****

I didn't
want to write a post tonight. I have so so so much going (read last post) just really wanted to share my latest find with you. Thatisall. Giveaway for monogrammed children's tee here.

i just love you. i really do.

Can i tell you what i DONT love?! The fact that i got so excited over these adorable shoes, clicked over to the crocs site and discovered that OF COURSE they dont carry my giant size 11W shoe. wahhh! YOu'd think i'd be used to this after so many year but it still gets me in the gut EVERY time. It's SO unfair for a shoe lover to have such a big foot.
i demand a refund.

Not a shoe person...but I loved this post.

I was a shoe whore in a prior life. Now I look at pretty pictures and turn green with envy when I read about yours.

Not really. I am not envious. I gave everything up for a simpler life and have no regrets...almost.

Anyway those crocs are beautiful. I clicked over and saw the Fuschia and almost pulled out my CC right then and there!

I will be showing these to hubby for sure and we will see if I will get some new beauties soon.

Thank you. I really enjoy you and your site. I agree so whole heartedly with the bulk of your post. Thank you.

CROCS?! They're made by CROCS? They're adorable. AND affordable for this college student here! Of course, after my years of hard work {as you've had} I WILL buy myself a $200 pair of shoes some day! SOME day.

Signed,
NEXT Shoe Ho following in OHmommy's footsteps

Jenera said...

I can't relate to spending that much on shoes at all. The most I have ever spent was $75 and they were for the hubby for work. I am just not into shoes. But, theory is if you can afford it, go ahead and spend it. It doesn't affect me at what people do for fun, lol.

Anonymous said...

Yay for a great deal and a happy mama! It is your money and you can do with it what you want. I am just happy that you can buy what you want and enjoy it. Have fun in your new shoes!

Cecily R said...

I probably shouldn't tell you this, because I really like you and want you to keep liking me, BUT...my favorite shoes of the moment? Black Chuck Taylors. And guess what else? They aren't mine. I covet them and steal them from Isaac.

But I LOVE this post. Perfect way to explain one of the coolest things about blogging. And even my Chuck loving self can admit that those shoes are pretty dang cute.

Kari said...

I couldn't agree with you more about the beauty of reading blogs...you don't have to relate to them in order to appreciate them! I adore reading lovely blogs, some with lives like mine, and some with very different lives. I never judge. I'm sometimes even worried that others might judge what I write, but I try to remind myself that this is for ME, and anyone who doesn't like it, doesn't have to read it.

Anyhoo... Loved this post. Love your blog. And you are my hero when it comes to shoes sista!

Oh, those are CUTE! I have hard-to-fit feet, with a very high instep, and if I find a pair of shoes that are comfortable from beginning to end, I'll pay whatever they want for them. And the cute? Oh yeah!

And a comment on that "relate" thing. One of the things that I love so much about blogging is finding people that I would not otherwise find, and stepping outside of the little box of my own life every now and then. I would be bored senseless if I only visited people who are like me. Take you, for instance. I'm old enough...well, not quite...to be YOUR mom, but why would that stop me from visiting. I like you; I like your blog--even though we are completely different people. And I don't think you ever, ever have to justify your choices; I'm just glad you keep sharing the good stuff you find! :)

I want to know what shoes did you get for your kids??? I loath Stride rite. And I WANT those green flats!

When my kids get stride rite, I am splurging. Feeling very poor right now. :) LOL.

I've been eyeballing those very shoes myself.

I dream of being a shoe ho...I know that sounds odd. But, unlimited funds would go straight to a shoe closest with oodles of beauties on display. But, need to start slowly :) Need some new shoes so will check out your recc.

*applause*

I agree. The beauty of blogging is to share and find people you may have something in common with and make new friends, NOT to find your doppleganger, someone who is exactly like you in everything. What fun would it be if we all liked the same things and had the same opinions?

That said, I do share your passion for shoes. I don't spend a huge amount on my daughter's shoes, but I always make sure that they fit well, have good support and are comfortable. On my shoes I spend a bit more, but I usually get the ones I like on sale because I can't really afford them otherwise :-) But as Italian, I tend to spend more on accessories than clothes, so maybe it's genetic - but I do believe accessories make or break an outfit.

That said, I am looking forward to owning my first pair of Tory Burch flats... as soon as I find the ones I want on sale (online, it happens ;-)) but these are cute too! I'm tempted to get the pink ones.

Jessica said...

Ok, I must be impulsive sitting here sipping my morning cup of joe...I am going to try the flats AND also these darlings:

Flats? Oh the horrors! I ONLY wear heels.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Musings of a Housewife said...

Girl, I CAN so relate to you and I am ordering those shoes RIGHT NOW. I have another pair of You By Crocs (pumps) and I love and adore them. They retail for $150 and are more comfy than my $300 Stuarts. I have lusted over the Tori Burch and haven't wanted to spend that but I am so ordering these Crocs! Thanks for sharing.

Stephanie said...

I am obsessed with shoes. Maybe not in the capacity as you, but obsessed nonetheless. I can relate.

However, I just don't know if I can do the whole ballet flat thing. I just don't feel like that is me. If I don't have a heel, I feel abnormal.

designHER Momma said...

that's so funny that you posted on this today. I was doing a little croc shopping myself last night and was going back and forth on which ones to buy. I was going to get the ones you got, then at last minute I switched my mind and got the "lena" (in bronze) instead.

I'm a shortie and need a little heel.

Jen said...

I think your shoe fetish is AWESOME. I love to shop for pretty shoes and even try them on but when it comes down to it, I never wear them because I'm either barefoot or in flip-flops :)

GypsiAdventure said...

I know ballet flats are the rage, but I just cannot give up my heels...I wear them all the time (unless I'm running, but I've tried it) I'm not a shoe snob, but that's ok, I try to live vicariously thru you! hehe
Have a wonderful day!!

I've had someone leave me a nasty comment on a post I did about my new LV handbag and I deleted it because it's none of their business! They wrote something about "times like these", the economy, yadda yadda, etc and I wanted to write back, "Yes, it's times like these that I thank God up above for my stable job as a nurse and Den's rewarding job as a doctor, so bite me!"

P.s. We should start a stilleto ho group...now we just need a pimp.

Kate Coveny Hood said...

Everyone has a different spectrum for cheap/expensive. And I think that EVERYONE should feel okay about going "expensive" on something that they wear all the time. The only stipulation would be that the item would wear well enough and go with enough other wardrobe items to make the expense worth it. (I even add the further stipulation of the item not being too trendy - so my wardrobe can err on the side of boring, which I prefer to call "classic.")

I've always believed in buying one really good pair of shoes for small children instead of buying them 20 different pairs from Target. This will only change when the kids start to have more opinions about their shoes (which I'm starting to see in my 2 year old girl now...here we go...)

The current state of the economy has drastically lowered my cheap/expensive spectrum - but I never judge others. Okay - maybe a little - but only out of acknowledged (and regretted) jealousy. I won't begrudge you your TB shoes - but I may envy you a little.

Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? said...

Those are adorable (and pretty affordable, too). Because I? Am the complete opposite of a shoe snob.

The Daily Stroll said...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that spends a lot on my child's shoes. That makes me feel better! :)

My Tory Burch flats are my absolute favorite too. I wear them all the time! So I must try these! They are adorable!

Amy said...

We must have been seperated at birth.

First, I was looking at Tory Burch flats on this lady in the grocery on Sunday and thinking, "Am I the only freak on earth who can identify shoes like this?"

Second, I was looking at THIS SAME PAIR OF FLATS on the Crocs web site Sunday and wondering whether to try them!!!

How bizarre is that? Crocs gave every attendee at Blissdom a $50 gift certificate to spend on their shoes and I couldn't decide what to get. Now I know!! So thanks!!

(And thank you Crocs for supporting shoe-whore mommy bloggers everywhere with shoes that aren't made of holey plastic.)

What is it about your posts that inspires me to give you a standing ovation each time?

YES to us all reading & enjoying different points of view. Why bother if we don't have our point of view challenged every so often? Regularly?

As for the shoes, I'm admittedly more of a handbag ho, but I am intrigued to hear a pair of actual (deep breaths) CROCS pass your high standards. I may have to skip my intended Reva purchase & investigate this.

PS - From your last post, you ARE a writer. Just because you aren't published in a book (as far as I know, that is!) doesn't mean you don't qualify.

I'm so afraid of wearing ballet flats because I am so short! But those are cute!

tiarastantrums said...

cute shoes!! And I can attest to the fact that brand is awesome!!

As for expensive shoes for kids - I'm so with you - really - Prima's are my favs for my kids!!!!!!! I lived in China where it is impossible to find good shoes for kids - NEVER again!!!!!!!! I spent $60 on a pair of sandals for my girls this past summer and my husband was so ticked - BUT - they lasted all summer long and they still look great!

tracey.becker1@gmail.com said...

Hey, what size shoe do you wear? Any shoes you are done with that might be a 9? I can squeeze into an 8 1/2, though... :)

Probably not. You're a tiny little thing and probably have cute, tiny feet. Brat.

Cute shoes but I couldn't do the green they would be too loud for my size 10 feet. As for the not being able to relate comment boo on her, she should keep not so nice things to herself.

I don't realte either. I used to be you minus the kids. Shoe ho, dropped hundreds on shows, jeans etc. That was when I earned serious dough as an Operations Manager of a national staffing firm. Now I am a stay home mom and I went to... sniff sniff... Payless Shoe Source (now I am sobbing) for my last pair of shoes. But you remind me of the old days, and yet you still have the kid stuff, too. You're a perfect mix of old me and new me and I LOVE it! Screw the unlrelatables!!!

Seriously I saw the Tony Burch Revas (black) at Marshall's for $24.99 last summer. I am not kidding! Alas I am a tiny tiny mom so flats are not something I wear, unless it's a running shoe.
And I would not judge--we all have our quirks (some are just really good at hiding them ;) )

Anyway, GREAT shoes. I am somewhat of a shoe snob as well. I put Caroline in Sanita shoes (They are a Danish clog but I like the shoes better. Example: we love the Gitte Safari in the black & white cow print)http://www.sanitaclogs.com/kids.html. A friend told me I was crazy to spend $84 on kid shoes. My response to her was "SUCK IT". Lord forbid I tell her how much I spent on a pair of Juicy flats.

I also love my TB flats in patent black and would love many more colors. I think I am going for the green crocs. I am so glad you suggested them, b/c I would not of even thought twice about them b/c of them being crocs. I love crocs for kids, but not so much for adults. Thanks for the tip!

I had the TB flats and lost them. Don't ask. I just don't know.

These are cute. Cute.Cute.Cute.

At the risk of having you never talk to me again, I'll admit that not only am I not a shoe snob, I don't really even like shoes much. I didn't get the girl gene that makes you get excited about shoe shopping.

That said, I love that you're a self-professed shoe ho and that you wear it (and them) proudly. We probably couldn't be much more different, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy your blog, for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

Jill said...

No ballet flats for me... I have a height thing and only wear shoes with heels... they're as comfy for me as flats are for everyone else.

And me? I have a maid... and a driver...and a gardener...every single day. Oh yeah, and my maid also doubles as a part time cook, prep chef, and nanny.

But as I like to remind everyone - I live in India - throw me a bone, eh?

I may have to check out a pair of those to replace a pair of Tod's ballet flats that are finally dying on me. Thanks for the tip!
