April Fools Day: Find the "lie"

"One of these things is not like the others. Come on, can you tell which one?" Do you remember the old Sesame Street segment where they asked you to find one thing that obviously didn't belong with the others? Here's my PG-13 grown up rendition of that Sesame Street segment.

Can you find the one thing that did not happen to me in the past couple of days? Come on, can you tell which one?

I admitted to wearing Hanky Panky majtki at the annual PTA fundraiser, in front of strangers named Bob.

I managed to inhale four fried chicken legs with my fitness boot camp instructor by my side.

I ran my errands in plastic black Crocs and felt classy.

I raked up cigarette butts sprinkled across my driveway and worried about stepping in puddles of roofers' tinkles.

I found a naked blond Barbie, in an uncompromising position, on my husband's side of the bed.

I cried today when I realized we brought back something a little unexpected, from our vacay to Mexico, seven weeks ago.

I told the NRA that my husband cheated on me with Barbie and can no longer be reached at this phone number.

I devoured braised bacon from Lola's Bistro, on a Lenten Friday.

I blushed out loud seeing as I was voted as the "Hottest Mommy Blogger" here. Heh, I shamelessly ask you to vote.

I stayed up way too late watching the (dvr-ed) marathon of Real World: Brookyln and was late to preschool drop-off in the morning.

I found four chicken nuggets, two tater tots, and one sippy cup of spolied milk in my minivan.

I wanna say the plastic crocs one, but I am not sure.

I can't wait to find out!

Jessica said...

You did not run errands in your Cros as if it was classy...did you?!

And, what was your unexpected surprise from Mexico?!

Hockeyman said...

I'm gonna say, in the spirit of the day, that all are true. Your April Fools is there IS no false item. :)

Kim said...

Hmm.. I am going to with the raking the butts.. :)

Smart A$$ Mom said...

well, I am side tracked. What the he double hockey sticks did you bring back from Mexico?

A baby?

(It's now on the brain.)

the mama bird diaries said...

Definitely one of the items involving Barbie.

Or the crocs.

Oh, now I'm not sure.

Karen MEG said...

I'm curious about Mexico too...but I think I'm with hockeyman...I bet you did all of the above...

Danielle said...

Has to be the Crocs.... no way did you wear Crocs.

and feel classy in them....

:)

(from a closet occasional Croc wearer-er)

"I cried when I realized we brought back something a little unexpected, on our vacay to Mexico, seven weeks ago."

*eyebrow raise*
VERY curious now WHAT it was (or IF something was) brought home.

Momo Fali said...

I'm going to go with the bacon. I've managed to not screw up (so far) this year, so I trusting you haven't either!

krissy said...

Gotta go with the crocs. Even though I do it all the time.

MIT Mommy said...

You really should have given him a break. He was probably just lonely with you so busy doing all those other things.

L said...

I pick the bacon... I think?!

The Gatties said...

I don't think montezuma's revenge can follow you home from Mexico 7 weeks after your visit....(raising eyebrows) Is there a baby on board????

Sarah said...

I do not believe that you would ever wear crocs. In fact, if you own a pair of crocs, I'll eat my hat.

Amy @ Milk Breath and Margaritas said...

This is hard, but I'll go with the Crocs.

And I can't wait to find out what the Mexican surprise is!

Krystyn said...

I'm thinking the plastic crocs....but holy moly if the 7 week one is true! You torture us!

Tara R. said...

Ooooo... I love all of these. But if I had to pick, I go with the NRA fib.

Walking With Scissors said...

I'm going to go with the Crocs. But, like others have said, you MUST elaborate on the Mexico surprise.

Blessings From Above said...

I was going to guess bringing something unexpected back from your Mexican vacation...but after reading about the fried chicken and bacon I thought perhaps you are having cravings?!

So, I'm going to guess that the Crocs is the April Fools one.

Beth said...

Like everyone else, I am now very curious about Mexico. You are such a tease.

But I am going to have to go with the NRA one.

Becca said...

I am also very curious as to what you brought home from Mexico, if that occurred of course!

Daniella said...

I dont comment often but am a loyal reader. My guess is the NRA comment. I hope it is too. as a fellow lifetime member who started out as the wife of a lifetime member :) Now I know crocs are not super classy but you can pull them off :)

Daniella said...

ok now I know why I dont comment often - typos! I did not mean to type fellow lifetime member - just member. sorry. can not wait to see what was true.

Traceytreasure said...

I'm not even looking at the other comments.
I'm going with the NRA one. But, I'm just guessing. You are so classy and funny! Will you please tell me which one was the lie?
I'm going to read the other comments now.
Hugs!!

So Not Mom-a-licious said...

I was into this entire post and then I forgot almost all of it when I read the Mexico line. =o
You are going to have to post twice today because there is no one I can wait to know what little unexpected thing came home with you!

But I think you would never wear Crocs!

Valerie(momof3crazykids) said...

I know you have crocs, not sure which one of these would be false, but I'm thinking you did bring back a little present from Mexico in the form of a baby. or maybe that is the false and you're just getting us all excited, and then you're gonna tell us April Fools!

Mr Lady said...

There is no way you're pregnant. NO WAY.

Is there?

Kari said...

I am with Hockeyman on this one...All of them are true!?

And...what did you bring back from Mexico that you would cry about!? HMMMMM!? MAN oh man..I hafta-know!

Kari said...

It's got to be the Crocs. I just can't see you wearing Croc, unless they've suddenly created a classy stileto version?

* TONYA * said...

You absolutely DID NOT run errands in your crocs. I don't believe that for a second.

Dana said...

I think the last one is true and all the rest are "lies". I just have to be different, and it's really the only one that seems even remotely possible at the moment.

carrie said...

Um...I'm totally stumped. But you better not be doing what your FB status says you are...or else it is a really cruel April Fool's joke!

(how am I ever going to sleep tonight not knowing which one of these things it is?)

Anti-Supermom said...

If your Boot Camp instructor is anything like mine, there is no way chicken wings were involved in your last few days.

(I 'know' you excluded the Crocs - By You part of the story)

DysFUNctional Mom said...

I'm just way too scared to even attempt to guess on this one.
Can't wait for the answer, though!

Lisa said...

It's 3 AM and I can't sleep, so I come down & read this. Now I'm never going to sleep wondering what you could have brought back from Mexico. Baby was the first thing on my mind too.....could it be Numero Quatro???

Kelley said...

I vote crocs. Only because I WANT TO BELIEVE IT.

So you pregnant or what?

glowstars said...

I can't honestly believe you'd wear the plastic crocs, so that's gotta be the falsie.
Am really, really curious about Mexico.

Megryansmom said...

You had me going with the crocs, but I say you are NOT pregnant.

Scary Mommy said...

If anyone can rock the Crocs, it's you.

Did you get knocked up in Mexico?!!!!

brown eyed girl said...

I think its the NRA one. What is the Mexican surprise? Seriously, all of us are curious!

BlondeMomBlog (Jamie) said...

First off the unexpected something from Mexico sounds interesting...hmmmm!!

My vote is for the Real World Brooklyn all nighter! ;)

Jessica said...

Did you have a suite or all share a room in Mexico?

Ashlie-Mommycosm.com said...

I'm going to guess the NRA one.

You're crying and eating fried chicken AND wearing crocks - did you bring back a pregnancy from Mexico?!??!

Or...is that the April Fools part?!

Karen said...

Okay, being April Fools and all, I'm wondering if the something from Mexico is not exactly that. And if so... squeeeee!!!!

Tracey - Just Another Mommy Blog said...

Whoa, whoa whoa.... Are you pregnant?

I will say you DID wear crocs, but they weren't the nasty black ones that everyone thinks of. They were little ballet flats. Right?

Rachel said...

OH MY GOSH.

No way. really?

Stephanie said...

Plastic crocs, eating chicken in front of your fitness instructor? that's questionable, too...maybe?

If I have to pick one I'd say the plastic crocs. I bet you don't even own a pair! ;oD

Steph @ Diapers and Divinity said...

This is a very clever post. And apparently one you'll get stoned for if you don't reveal the truth soon. :) My guess is the minivan one-- there was probably a lot more stuff than that! :)

I am P said...

Im going with the chicken legs, there's nothin classy about that!

Courtney said...

Are you pregnant? That's what you brought back from Mexico? When are you going to tell us what you were lying about, if you are at all?

Kate Coveny Hood said...

I think your boot camp instructor sounds too tough to allow chicken legs...

The crocs are a red herring - you have repeatedly posted pictures of crocs that don't look like those hideous clog things. Apparently they now make attractive and comfortable flats?

Kash said...

chicken legs or nra.

Kat said...

It has got to be eating the fried chicken with the trainer. I don't know if a trainer would do that. Hmmm.

Come on now!
What is the unexpected surprise????

Chandra said...

Well the consensus here says it's the CROCS...but my guess is the eating fried chicken with your trainer...fried chicken, seriously? I'm my own trainer and I wouldn't even do that!

Mexico seems to have everyone in a tizzy wouldn't you say? Spill the beans, please!

Sandra said...

I'm going to say plastic crocs, can't picture you in those unless they are of the line YOU by crocs, the my 2nd guess is the Mexico thing... come on... tell us...

Tee aka The Diva's Thoughts said...

There is no way you were eating chicken with your fitness boot camp instructor right there! lol

I'll say that one.

Half Gaelic, Half Garlic! said...

I can't get past your surprise from Mexico......you know what I am thinking....Could it be?? One more to add to the Classy Crew?

I am going with Crocs....for some reason, I cannot visualize you in Crocs:)

Happy April Fools Day!

Lisa

Amy said...

Ooh, I hope it's the spoiled milk. Cuz that's just nasty!

The Daily Stroll said...

I know you own the cute green ballet flats by crocs but I can't imagine that you wore the black plastic kind to run errands in so I'm going with that one!

But like everyone else, I'm uber curious to know what you brought back from Mexico!! Do tell!!!

Nan Patience said...

got me! which one?

Renny said...

I'd say the calling the NRA, but that one is actually so funny that I hope its true. Did you bring back a baby from Mexico? Are you pregnant? Or is that one the lie because you knew people would think you meant a baby and you want us to get all excited about it?

Jeffry and Morgan said...

Ok, I'm dying to know which one is false. My guess is the fried chicken legs.

But I'm REALLY dying to know if you've made the jump from three babies to four!?! Because I'm trying to make that decision myself...

Legallyblondemel said...

Wait, WHAT? I don't for a second believe the Crocs one, but you did show those flat Croc variations (I think?) the other week.

Hmm . . . for my other options, it is April Fool's Day, and I'm guessing the Mexican "surprise" is a red herring? Oh, the suspense!

Chiloe said...

I'd like that one to true : "I cried today when I realized we brought back something a little unexpected, from our vacay to Mexico, seven weeks ago." : a fourth pregnancy !!! lol Seems like a lots of people want you to have another baby !!! lol

Chiloe said...

Maybe you just found a dying taco on your favorite dress in your unpack suitcase? lol

Kelly said...

So I thought that "something unexpected from Mexico" was a lizard or something. Then I read Mr. Lady's comment. NO WAY! So that's got to be all April Fools... Right?

Flea said...

Are you preggers?!?

Natalie Jane said...

I feel that being impregnated in Mexico while wearing crocs would be the best answer. Was barbie watching?

LceeL said...

I'm thinking! I'm thinking! I'm really, REALLY ruminating here .... Oh! LOOK! Something shiny ....

Elaine A. said...

I'm going with the NRA thing about Barbie. Although I hope I'm wrong...

Zoeyjane said...

What did you bring back from Mexico? A baby?!

April said...

The NRA is false...

...and PLEASE don't leave us hanging about what you brought back from Mexico! (I can see the PP's are on the same wavelength as me. LOL)

April said...

And why does everyone think you won't wear crocs?!?!? Haven't they read your posts about your (I think it was) ballet flat crocs? Isn't that what they were?

anymommy said...

No idea, but I'm guessing the last one is absolutely true, at least if your minivan is anything like mine.

Now, I'm off to vote - congrats.

The White House said...

I vote cigarette butts. I secretly hope that you brought home a baby from Mexico... you are a great mamma and I could use someone to empathize with me on having four small children.

Chelsea said...

I think... maybe the plastic Crocs. You wouldn't wear plastic shoes. If you did, I won't judge you. :)

Courtney said...

OOHHH!! I can't wait to hear if there is to be another addition to the OHMommy family...

Denise said...

My vote is the crocs. Althoguht I am trying to figure out why the nra woudl be calling you. Could the unexpected thing from Mexico be that your son smuggled some type of critter?!

Lisa@verybusymomwith4 said...

I'll say the Mexico comment is fake because only a nut case would have four kids ;)
(But if it isn't--don't feel alone-I cried for weeks when I found out about #4)

MommyTime said...

The plastic Crocs are the lie -- even if you have them, you don't feel classy in them. I don't think Mexico is a lie, but I think you might be pulling a fast one in the sense that the 7-week surprise is something truly sad, such as a wet bathing suit never unpacked, or sand someplace it shouldn't be, or a parasite. (I know, eeeewwww.)

Kel said...

crocs...you don't wear the plastic kind. I do have to admit the 'brought something unexpected' back is sneaky as well but the barbie and the NRA...now that's funny!
~K

Melissa said...

I have to say the crocs, but what did you bring back from Mexico? Great post!!

Ellyn said...

Let me guess...you brought a spider home from Mexico.

And no you didn't wear crocs. I just don't see that happening.

A Crafty Mom said...

I don't think the crocs you have are plastic, right???

But these are pretty well thought out - so I could be wrong :-)

Nap Warden said...

This is a trick...None of them...all of them? Fried chicken with the trainer seems fishy...

Jaina said...

I vote the crocs one.

Jaina said...

Also, I'm curious if your extra surprise from Mexico is in the form of a new little one.

Rach (Mommy Learns to Blog) said...

You have totally got me wondering . . .

I believe you'd wear the Crocs, but not the original ones, the cute ballet flats or a variation.

Knowing you, you DID bring something unexpected home from Mexico (not a pregnancy) and there is a hilarious story behind it!

I'm going with the NRA!
