Dirty blond hair
with a bow in it
wisps fall gently.
Eyes often squint
look down when unsure
shy and silly.
Always dirty
dried Dora yogurt
fights cleanliness.
Playdoh, crayons,
markers, chalk, pencils,
paper and paint.
Always busy
independent now
cries when helped.
"Thank you Mama."
"I want some more now."
"It is mine. Mine!"
Skips, prances, twirls,
never a straight path
turns around JUMPS.
Chocolate, pretzels,
blueberries, apples,
turkey and bread.
A toddler's life
is simple portrait
to paint and love.

So adorable.... :)
Love that picture, so adorable!
You're a poet too...does your talent never end?!?! Seriously. This is a precious portrait of your little Fifi.
If I were the creative type, I'd get the photo and poem printed, matted, framed and hung in a heartbeat!
Shes gorgeous!!!
I love those legs! I want to bite them (but you know - in a good way). I am poetry writing-challenged so I'm extra impressed by this lovely little tribute. She's a doll.
I love the boa! She is adorable.
i just looked at all your photos. they are simply remarkable. you have an amazing talent. this one is especially wonderful. lucky children that you've captured them so well.
Truly wonderful. It is obvious you love writing, you do it so well.
Two words: Fabulous post.
ok, 2 more: PRECIOUS Fifi!
I love that! I had a portrait done of my kids and just posted it but I didn't write a nice poem:)

Love that photo.
Oh, that is just precious!
I'm pretty sure mine would not even hold a candle to that!
Nice. Definitely time for a poem. It has been awhile.
That's gotta be one of the cutest photos EVER. :)
I can't stand how adorable toddlers look in tights! It's almost a shame to ever cover those legs in a dress, isn't it? So cute! Thanks for sharing!
So cute, so precious. I have a question for you now though. When it comes to saying "It's mine. Mine." Does the voice rise with each word and the final "Mine." come out as a scream or a shout -or were my kids just plain loud?
Precious!
Oh my Lord I want to gnaw on those pudgy little legs - so stinkin' cute!
Precious!

This is beautiful! You should seriously frame the poem and picture together.
Oh my!! love the poem and the picture!!!!
My ovaries jump start every time I see a little girl in tights! I think its my uterus's way of saying "try one more time for a girl." Then my brain says "WHAT ARE YOU NUTS???"
Wow! Very nice. I love that pic.
That was a great post. The picture is adorable.
I love the picture and the poem. What a wonderful way to remember your daughter at this age. I'm inspired to try it, but don't want to plagiarize!

absolutely beautiful. the photo AND the words.
How do you ever get anything done? If Fifi was in my house I would spend all day kissing those cheeks. She is really getting big! Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but she seems to have shot up.
That is adorable!
You are absolutely right, this is the quintessential capture of a toddler!
