The phone. The phone is ringing.

Who needs the National Do Not Call Registry when you have an anxious, eager and talkative toddler?

"See dis?" She lowers the phone to the ground pointing it at her My Little Ponies. After "showing" the AT&T telemarketer on the phone her entire collection the line was dead.

"One, two, free, seben, eight, nine..." She counts her princess fruit snacks three times over for the NRA representative.

"Mama. Mama?" She repeats the words that I am assuming the Chase bank rep used. "Mama sad no more man-keys jumpin on da bed." She sings out loud while waving her finger no-no.

I giggle like a school girl each time I see an unidentified number flash across my caller ID and run to hand the phone over to my talkative Feenster. Purple Heart Veterans. Scotts Lawn Service. Card Services. Research Center. Market Probe. Bring it on! I have a very excited toddler at home waiting for your calls.

Do you think companies have their own version of a National Do Not Call Registry? If so, I am pretty sure that we are on it. I just wonder what we are officially labeled as.

LOL! I could use your little feenster at my house! Go FIFI!

OK, seriously, this is an EXCELLENT idea! I mean, all JR will do right now is EAT the phone, but he did learn "ALL FALL DOWN" today and hasn't stopped saying it. I'm thinking that just might do the trick . . .

Courtney said...

That is too funny!! I was cracking up as I read this.

This is hilarious!!!! We just use our cells and have the ringer turned off on the land line, but maybe we'll start to let little Bear take the calls. Too funny!

Woderful idea! I hadn't thought of that one! Very cute!!

That's hilarious! Oh my goodness! I might just act like the Feenster next time I answer a call like that. Do you think I have potential...?

TOTALLY awesome!! LOL I may have to start doing this too! Of course now I have the Wonder Pets song stuck in my head! haha

I'm doing this, and if they keep calling after my son goes to bed, I'll just fake it.

Danielle said...

I do this too! Cannon always thinks it's "Daddy" though.

"Daddy!? Where are you? You coming home?"

I can't imagine what they think on the other line!! And it cracks me up!

That is so funny!!

I totally got the wonderpets song! My neice watches that show like crazy when she is here!

You know what? You've given me a great idea. I don't have any toddlers at home anymore but I do have an irritating Furby. It accidentally gets bumped once in awhile and talks. I think I will let the Furby answer my next unidentifiable call. Hilarious!! Cock-a-doodle-doo!

tttooooo funny!!

That is the funniest thing I ever read.

That is so HILARIOUS!!! I love it. I've got one of those and next time I know who I am handing the phone too.

That's fantastic! I may have to try that one with my three year old.

So my office would not stop calling today! And the last call, I got my son all excited and had him saying hello before I answered...part of me was so tempted to just hand him the phone. After reading this, I am definitely going to have some fun with it next time!

The Daily Stroll said...

...there's a telemarketer in trouble somewhere!! hehe ;)

What a fabulous idea!! You are brilliant. I will have to try this with Jonah next time we have an unknown caller!!

Tyne said...

There's a solicitor in trouble, a solicitor in trouble somewhere. We're not too big and were not too tough but when we've got the Feenster, we've got the right stuff! (oh, i just saw that Daily Stroll said the same thing)!

Desiree said...

Hahaha. Brilliant!
My friend also lets her 6 year old answer the phone to avoid talking too ^_^

Love it.

I'm sure I'll teach Gretchen this trick when the time comes!

You are a genius. If I really want to torture them, I'll get the kids to tell a few of their *painful* knock-knock jokes.

Oh THIS I NEVER have thought to try - what a clever idea!

This is the BEST idea EVER!!! You are my hero. I love the Wonder Pets reference too. :-)

That is a great idea... though sadly, we don't get telemarketers calling us in India.

Reason #4 why India is sometimes OK.

Kate Coveny Hood said...

What a great idea! And it would still work if the toddlers refused to "take the call" (common around here). The shrieks of "NO - NO TALK - NO PHONE - NO TELEPHONE!" would be just as effective.

Secret Mom Thoughts said...

I love it. Great idea. The Wonder Pets theme song is in my head now too.

I LOVE THIS! Going to try it with Kyle today. Perfect!!!

whenever an unidentified number comes up on caller id, i have my kids answer the phone. they like to make strange noises at the caller. my little one has big conversations...something like...who is this? who? who? click.

If I had a home phone, I would totally do this, too! I love it. If only you could hear the other end of the conversation.

"Is your mommy there? Can I talk to you daddy, pllleeeeaaassseeeee?"

Stephanie said...

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! MUST TRY THIS!

Unknown said...

That, my dear, is a tremendous use of resources. Score one for your 'Class Act'.

anya said...

I do this too! It's fun when you put the telemarketers on speakerphone and then you can hear the comments and/or confusion in their voices! Lol!

Unknown said...

ha! That is hilarious!

Karen MEG said...

Your girlie is hilarious and you are GENIUS!!! I just tell my kids to hang up if they don't hear something in the first 2 seconds.

And thanks, I've got that song in my head for the rest of the day now :)

You must be labeled as GENIUSES! What a completely brilliant plan . . .

Jenera said...

I am SO going to try this with my kid! I hate annoying phone calls and he loves to talk on the phone!

Courtney said...

That is hilarious. When Taylor was about 2 1/2 she answered the "private" call & asked who it was that wanted to talk to her mom. She said, "My mom doesn't know a Jasmine, cuz I'd know about her. We're not supposed to talk to strangers so I have to hang up on you now." It was hilarious.

Miss Lisa said...

That is a great plan. My older daughter loves to 'chat' with them and says 'oh this so interesting' and then hangs up ;)

Lisa said...

that might be one of my favorite ideas you've ever had :)

Hilarious!!! I love this, I could use her at my house too!

Sucha great idea!! Charlotte loves to talk on the phone, too. As I type this Charlotte is singing the Wonder Pets songs right now!

Oh my gosh, why didn't I think of that! If there is one way to get rid of those calls your idea will surely do it.

Thanks for letting the Wonder Pets back inside my head!!! I banished them from my son's viewing schedule, but that song haunts me wherever I go!!!
