just laugh WITH me...

We lost Hunter, our new puppy, yesterday. For 15 minutes the kids and I walked around the house feverishly calling his name. With no luck, I sat all three kids down for a yogurt snack, while I searched for the dog alone. Naturally, Lola managed to drop some yogurt on her pants and ran to the laundry room to take them off.

"I found Hunter!" She screamed. And there he was, asleep on a pile of dirty laundry.
Upon further investigation we found his poop, very close to the door. Ah ha! So this is why people in the midwest wait until spring to bring home puppies. I so didn't get THAT memo. I have been missing a lot of parenting memos lately. I don't blaim him though. It was all of 4 degrees outside and schools were closed.

I proceeded to clean up the mess and took him outside. I was unable to wait patiently for him. I heard Fifi screaming inside. She had been left alone in her highchair for too long, with her own cup of yogurt.
I proceeded to clean up her mess and this caused her to scream even louder. No child of mine has ever liked their faces scrubbed. I took her clothes off and left her on the kitchen floor as I searched for her pacifier. "KIDDOS!!! Where is Fifi's pacifier?" I screamed over her screams.
I licked the pacifier off (she is my THIRD after all and dogs do have clean mouths) and placed it in her mouth. Ah, ha! I wondered why my entire family LAUGHED OUT LOUD when we announced we were adding another dog to our family. Now. I understand. Three kids. Two dogs. One husband. Yup, I so understand that we are done multiplying the chaos. Just laugh WITH me.

OMG the adventures! At least everything started and ended in the same place. Now, did you bleach, boil, toss or all of the above the pacifier?

That is great! I am glad that someone else thinks that maybe two dogs is one (or two) too many on somedays. (We have two Labs!)

How great that you got the whole thing captured for future laughs as well. :-)

Cheers for you surviving another day of chaos.

That puppy is too darn cute though! And your baby! Did the yogurt have a bomb inside it to make it explode like that???? Very adorable pics (except for the poo!)

Bahaha...always laughing with you lil' mama!

Puppies are something else. Our puppy, too, was none too anxious to go out in unpleasant weather. In our case, it was rain. She's a Golden Retriever, but she apparently didn't get the memo that she's a water dog. Ha!

Having experienced puppydom, I think we're done with puppies... at least for a while.

The puppy with the pacifier picture made me laugh out loud. And OMG how friggin cold is it here!!! This weather is killing me right now!

HHHHHHHAAAAAAAA!

I think we are living similar lives... except my youngest of the three is 9. Hang in there! Life does get easier!

I have two dogs, one cat, 3 children, one work-a-holic hubby, 10 horses, and a gentleman's farm that is NOT our primary source of income... (laughing here... and thanking GOD! For that!)

I LOVED that picture of the baby with the yogurt. My older brother has never had a child and just doesn't "get" why I sometimes "I HAVE TO GO NOW" when talking on the phone! **laughing with you**

Love your blog!
:-) Beth

I am now visiting once a day (okay...sometimes twice) just for posts like this!

You give my abs such a workout... I skip crunches at the gym. (Thanks!)

I take photos of a dead fish plaque strapped in a seat belt... you take photos of your dog with a paci in his mouth... what could be funnier?

Oh I love the dog and the pacifier picture! Hilarious!!

Hopefully the weather will improve soon and we can all get outside soon!

The best part is this series of events all happened within a half hour. Mothering, you just have to roll with the punches.

Tried to warn you...

We lost our dog when he was a puppy once, too. We searched for HOURS until we realized he was sleeping under the ground cover in our front flower bed.

And yes, we've lost a paci or two to the dog also.

But he is so cute!

I'm laughing so hard my belly hurts. I needed that. Before you were a mommy or a dog owner, did you ever think you would be taking pictures and making little red arrows to point out the poop?
It's awesome!

P.S. I'm sorry you went through whatever medical issue you did when one of your babies was small. Thanks for being a friend.

Did you just stand there and wonder which way to look? Sounds like you had an interesting day! I love the pics~ the yogurt face was adorable and then when I scrolled down and saw the pacifier, I just had to laugh. I can only imagine what a puppy would get into around here!

How are you all feeling? Tip top or still leaning?

Puppy love....

We got a new puppy in November. It was cold then too. Let's just say that I am glad he's a golden retriever and could be put outside. Not before the hubby made sure we had a "real" doghouse to stay in and we had to install a heater to keep poor Toby warm.

Such a cute puppy, and what an interesting day! I agree 6 kids (ok 3 kids, 1 husband and 2 dogs) is quite enough!

The pic of the dog and the paci is just plain laugh out loud FUNNY!!! I miss all sorts of memos..

You my dear had me rolling today.. this post was hysterical!

I'm definitely laughing with you! And I'm sorry but the dog picture with the pacifier was great!!! (And just FYI, if you ever watch MythBusters on TV, they proved that the tale of a dog's mouth being cleaner is a myth - it's actually filthy.) Just a little something to brighten your day. HA! :oD

This is very funny -- but the picture of the dog with the binkie in its mouth is priceless.

We once lost our 10 week old pup and discovered she'd pulled three coats down off the coat rack, piled them into a nest for herself, and gone to sleep. They love that for some reason.

She's a big dog now, and she always pees outside. But it's in the single digits here in MI too, so she is only about 2 feet from the door when she squats, and she barely has room to turn around before she's back in the house. Ahhh...winter!
Glad you're all laughing and, presumably, feeling better!

This is SO a day in my life. I feel as though I've accomplished exactly nothing by day's end, and I'm exhausted and ready for bed at 7 pm. For some odd reason we feel the need to add anywhere from 1-4 dogs to our family per year. Stupid, stupid...

So funny....I still want to steal your dog.

Funny! At least you can laugh about it.

HA!!! Great pics! Well, except for the poop pic. I could have done without that one. Thanks for that. ;)
Hang in there lady!

Everytime my mom got fed up, I remember her waving her arm above her head telling us to get lost, indefinetly! Your kids will associate your fury with picking up a camera, a much less belligerent image!

Amy said...

too funny!!! glad to hear you still have your sense of humor despite your lack of sleep the other night! hope you are well!

OMG! From one thing to the next! It sounds like you handled it well.

Oh, you are SO much braver than I. With 3 little boyz, I have vowed to NEVER have pets. And I have warned anyone close to me that if I ever ALLOW a pet in my home, to have me instantly committed, b/c that means I've truly lost it.

Oh my gosh! I laughed so hard reading this! Hey, at least little puppy knows to go toward outside anyway, right?

I was thinking about asking for a puppy for graduation (yeah, I'm like 5) to add to our 3 kids and 1 dog, but this makes me wonder.... hmmmm. :)
