Faster then a speeding daschund.

One year after getting married we started to "settle down." My husband and I purchased a teeny tiny bungalow on the city's edge and painted the front door a vibrant red. We played house all spring and when summer arrived we asked each other, "What's next?"

"Do you want to have kids?"

"Naaawww. Not yet."

"Good. Me neither. Not yet."

The feelings were mutual, so my dog loving husband convinced me, the-not-so-much-an-animal-lover, that the first step in filling our new home should be with the purchase of a dog.

"Let's see how we can handle a dog. Okay?"

In came Murphy. We were DINKs with a daschund. Murphy ate well, he slept well, he was the king of the tiny fixer-upper castle.

Then came Jay. Shortly thereafter, Lola followed. And suddenly, Murphy was no longer the king of the castle. Until. Until both my chickadees started to eat on their own. They would sit in their high chairs and burst out in fits of giggles when Murphy scrambled around to eat their leftovers off of the floor.

It became such a hysterical routine that Murphy was locked up during feeding time.

Lately. Both my husband and I have noticed that Murphy has thinned out a lot. We keep food in his bowl and now we have THREE CHICKADEES to add to the hysteria. He should be well fed. There is still plenty of food on the kitchen floor.

However, there is someone that is faster than our dog. There is someone that is sometimes lovingly neglected, when we are rushing off to the next play date, pool party, tennis lesson and can't sit around waiting for her toddler meal to be completed.

The third child.

Check out what she says when one piece actually makes it into her mouth, without falling to the floor. "YUMMY!"

Oh Fifi. My sweet beautiful Fifi. I adore everything about you. I love the way you make me giggle out loud. You are so incredibly yummy, funny, and terribly adorable. I can't wait to see how you turn out. I am positive you will not disappoint.

I can totally hear the love in your laughter at the end. It says everything that you typed at the end of this post. It was just lovely.

I nannied for a family that had two beagles that went NUTS everytime I fed the baby in the high chair. They sat and patiently waited for the baby to drop, spit or throw food on the floor and they ate well. It was hilarious.

Your children are just so adorable and sooo cute. Love em! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Too adorable! I love that she eats off the floor! Poor little puppy. At least Fifi's not eating the dog food like my middle child did. :)

Although I've been a reader for awhile, this is my first time commenting. I LOVED this post!!! The the girls are precious, and the video was TOO cute. I'm not sure that my dachshund agrees, however. Freddy was dead asleep until he heard Murphy bark, and then he tried to "attack" the computer. He couldn't figure out why there was another dog in his house!!

I just had to share!!

Too cute! Love the video.
And I just have to be the animal nerd here.
If you really think Murphy is losing weight, he may need a vet visit. My sister's cat started losing weight and they learned that he had diabetes.

poor puppy. Send him here cause Boo leaves food all over the floor all the time.

Oh and my ovaries? Totally releasing eggs all over the place with the cuteness.

So cute!
If only my daughter could be faster than our daschund! My dog is a complete fiend since Ciara was born. She actually pulled her off my lap one time taking food out of her hand.
(I should probably explain that my dog is also half rotty and quite strong)
Your daughters are absolutely adorable though.

There is something about the youngest child, isn't there. Something special. Something magical. Only now, that I can witness this magic with my own eyes do I understand why my baby sister got so much attention growing up.

I know I have probably told you this before, but...
I . love. your. stories!

My story would have been:
Fifi eats food off the floor faster than Murphy.
The End.

Your story: Perfect in every way.
I love it!

Favorite part? That when it falls on the ground she just picks it up- like everything is normal. And she moves fast- to beat the dog to it....hey nice table set too!

Not only is she adorable, but very patient, too! Jr. would be screaming his head off if his sister was teasing him with food like that!

Wyatt does what we call the 'happy dance' when he gets food. Our boy can eat.

That video is way too cute~

How adorable. I love that little fifi. But I admit...I feel sorry for the poor dog who is starving to death...lol!

She is quick to the jump. The dog doesn't have a chance.

So adorable. And I know how fast dachshunds are... and how food obsessed too!

Did Murphy have a hard time adjusting to babies and kids? I sometimes worry about mine. I guess we first need to get her out of the puppy stage, destroying everything!

First off, do you realize that Fifi is starting to look like a big girl? It's the hair I think. So big girl!!!

Second, you need to produce more children. They are just too, too cute! And how sweet is Lola feeding her? I mean, sugary sweet!!!

What a lovely life! Know my Goosey watched that video & wanted to know who those "sweet little girls" were. Sweet indeed!
