Investing in YOU

(A very awesome giveaway. Boots by YOU)

squats. squat jumps. lunges. lunge jumps. reverse lunges. lunges with bicep curls. chin ups. push ups. one arm push ups. push ups with row. romanian dead lift. dead lift. push press. bench press. over head pres
s. burpees. tricep dips.

Rinse, lather, repeat. For one hour, three times a week.

harder. faster. don't you think you could lift more? more. come on. pull. push. this is your last one, work it. one more time. ass to the grass. lower. quicker. is that all you are going to lift?make this one count. faster. pull. push.

Rinse, lather, repeat. For one hour, three times a week.

It has been 12 weeks. Nearly 40 breathless, gasping for air, muscles twitching, horribly exhausting, gut wrenching, early morning, fitness boot camp workouts.

Looking GOOD hurts. BAD.

Ahem. Rocking my new skinny jeans.

Honestly though. It has been a while since I invested in myself, my mental well being, and my physical health. It feels good.

I encourage you to invest in yourself too. It is so easy to lose track of yourself, especially as a mother constantly putting yourself before your children. But, if Mama ain't happy no one is happy. Right?

Let's start now.

You like shoes, yes?

Eeeek, me too!!!!

I have the most awesomest of awesome boots for you.

They are the $220 "Sexy snowbunny" boots from YOU by crocs. Seriously girlfriends, they are super duper sexy and trust me they will make you smile this winter season.

They are YOURS. Not mine, sigh. I'm pointing to YOU.

1. Leave me one comment before midnight EST this Sunday the 23rd, telling me what YOU do to invest in yourself.
2. YOU can have a chance to enter twice. Write a blog post about this contest linking me and you can leave me another comment. Don't forget to add your post's url. The last winner of my shoe giveaway was a blogger whose 2nd comment was picked.
3. YOU do not have to be a blogger. Anyone can enter. I'm turning off anon comments so you must register with a AOL/wordpress/livejournal/google/blogger account.
4. I will announced the winner here, on Monday, along with the winner of my sled giveaway.

Smooches girlfriends and good luck. Invest in yourself! Thanks YOU.

Hmm, well, I schedule a sleepover for the girls with their Nan and catch up on Grey's Anatomy!! Sometimes I clean, but it's more fun to clean when I can rock my POD and sing along at top volume (my girls are 18 months so I can't really do that when they're around)!! SUCH cute boots. Oh my stars.

I try to get to a yoga class one evening per week. An ADULT yoga class--with no babies! Though I will admit that taking care of my baby is so tiring that I often nod off during the meditation....

I wear the most sad, practical mommy shoes every day...I would love some cute shoes!! It makes me feel so good when I put some effort into my appearance and these shoes would really help. Thanks!

Hmmm? I don't do much for myself. I spend so much time doing for others, but it makes me feel good so I guess it does benifit me. But those boots would be so great!

I try to wake up at least 20 minutes before the kids, even if that means 5:30, to have some quiet time to read something inspirational, journal, meditate, or just enjoy a cup of tea. It starts my day out in peace because its "game on" when the kids arise!
I do a bunch of other stuff too, I need to! Getting lost in my kids did nothing for me. We are ALL much better off and smile a great deal mre when I take care of myself

I'm not even sure how I found your blog, but I've been sitting here for over an hour looking at some of your old posts. First thing...I am a fellow Ohian, by way of Cincinnati (a tiny bit warmer down here). Second, your babies are adorable, and so are you in your skinny leg jeans and your boot-camped body. I, too, have been working out at the Y with weights, ellipticals and muscle max classes, and I love the way it has made me feel. And the way my clothes now fit (again). I have three little ones, too, but mine are slightly older (10, 8 and 4). Anyway, I'm so glad I found you, and I'll for sure be back. Even if I don't win the boots.

Oh My LAWD! I am loving these boots!

Ok, let's see...every few Saturdays, I grab a great magazine and head down to my fave pedi place. No kids. No husband. Just me, the massage chair and new polish on my toes!

Those boots look awesome. Well, I've officially signed up for the new fitness center at my work. It was a moment of weakness, and it's not open yet, but hey - it is a step, right?

What do I do for me? I exercise!! Just last week, I entered, trained and completed a 1/2 marathon! NEVER HAVE BEEN A RUNNER....but now I consider myself one!!

My students asked me why I would run 13.1 miles. My answer: because I can!!

I have a 5 months old and am still working on getting my body back into shape but to invest in my mental health, I make sure to have nights with my girlfriends on a regular basis. It may not be weekly but we try to make time for each other and my husband never complains about keeping my daughter. Thanks!

They ARE cute :-)

Lately I've been better about investing in myself. I've been eating healthier and cooking lots of good foods from scratch. And exercising more - I joined a boot camp that starts next week three mornings a week at 6:00 a.m. - should be in good shape by Christmas, lol!!

Susan said...

Wow, I seriously need to do more investing. What I do manage to do is go on walks, with and without the kids, and do things I love like cooking, reading, writing, etc.

I never realized how true it is....mom's sacrifice everything and never do anything for themselves.
Tonight, I sat and had a glass of wine and told my toddler that I needed just a few "me minutes". I never do that I always feel sooo guilty-not tonight!
Love the boots-I need sexy right now-five months out from birth of a sweet boy!

My hair. I know that's so vain, but haircuts, great shampoo, and my Chi flat iron are my major investments in me.

Wow. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but *sigh* here goes. THOSE CROCS ARE CUTE!

Momma does a piyo class (1/2 pilates, 1/2 yoga) at the Y. And every week I'm surprised to find MORE muscles I never knew could hurt. Eventually I figure my butt will give in and go back to a shape it *should* be in!

Simply Yummy!!! And they look perfect for our freezing High Desert temps. Sexy snuggle-toes = WIN!
For too many years I was the "do for you (and you and you and you... ad infinitum)
Since being diagnosed with FMS in '02 I have learned to invest in my own physical, mental and emotional well being.
I meditate.
I have eliminated (almost totally, except for an occasional slip)the foods I'm allergic/ sensitive to and have lost a resulting 28 pounds without even trying!
I look for the good and try to live in gratitude.
I do at least one thing that I WANT to (as opposed to need to or should do) every day!
What I want to do right now is head over to my blog and post about your contest!
