This time around, the playgroup is for the kid...

Jay was nearly two years old, Fifi's age, when I walked into his bedroom after one of his naps and discovered an entire tube of diaper rash cream smeared throughout his hair. I immediately grabbed the video camera to capture his mischievous smiles. Although quite funny at the time, I remember thinking that I had no mommy friends to share it with. It was the dead of winter and I was so lonely. The day after shooting that video of Jay I promised myself to find us a playgroup to keep us busy while at home.

That playgroup was my saving grace.

Fast forward five years to the present dead of winter and as a busy mother of three I really don't have the time to be lonely while at home. However, somethings don't change and I find myself alone with one child again as the others are busy. One child that convinced me today to grab the video camera in order to capture her mischievous smiles. And just like years ago, after shooting the video, I sent out an emergency email to organize her a playgroup. Not so much for me, this time, as much as it is for her to learn proper socialization skills.

I just hope it's not too late.

Just imaginative or has my threshold for all things gross just grown with each child?

Ha ha!! I love "the voice of OhMommy" in credits ;-) Too cute. That dog has one long tongue, I thought my dog could lick up anything but I think you got your entire floor cleaned there!!

Haha, I can't think of anything right now, but I'm sure there are worse things she could have done!!!

Maybe she thinks Mommy's floor is so sparkling clean that she can eat off of it????

Those pigtails are to die for. So adorable! I don't know from playgroups, but I think it might not be a bad idea. ;-)

That is HILARIOUS! And she is completely adorable to boot.

Hey there are some kids who have worse manners than household pets. ;)

Well at least when she spoke to you she didn't bark

She is just too cute. And I know have a fab idea for how to get my floors clean... ;-)

The tone of horror in your voice is endearing because I only have two children, and while I would draw the line at licking the floor, I have regularly seen them spill cheerios or pretzels or something similar on the floor and then pick it up to eat -- and I don't bat en eyelash. Which means I am either more jaded or less cleanly than you are. You don't need to say which. ;)

That is hysterical!!

I think she'll be ok as long as you didn't call Petsmart for the play group.

Maybe Fifi thinks she's helping you clean the floor! Hey, I tried!!

How about Fifi has a good imagination? No?

Maybe she was just really hungry?

Yeah, I'm all out of ideas! Playgroup, STAT!

Yah, see my parenting level has changed as I saw nothing wrong with licking the floor.. better the floor than an electrical socket that my little guy thinks is fun to mess with.. :)

Seriously..who is raising that child a pack of wolves? You may need the dog wisper guy to intervene.

Yes. I would say a playgroup in in order.

Sooo funny.

You see... the funniest part is that Fifi gets pissed when Murphy begins eating her "food" on the floor. "NOOOO" she screams.

Was there food on the floor or was she just licking floor?

And you clearly said... EWWWW! I almost peed my pants.

I also watched this twice just for giggles.

Little Fifi... a little turkey nugget. I just love her. She is only going to teach her playgroup nuggets her little tricks. Imagine 5 or more of them licking your kitchen floor. Fun times. You will never have to mop again! SCORE!

So THAT'S the secret to a clean house! Man -- I soooooo need to get my kid into the floor-licking secret! ;)

LOL. It must be the age. My Kyle, who is the same age as Fifi, is going through a phase where he loves to eat ice cubes off the floor. Anytime we have a drink with ice, he is sure to confiscate a piece and then plays with it as if it is a dog bone.

Fifi is so stinkin' cute.

A little gross, but a little dirt never hurt, right? LOL!!!!

Aww, she's too cute! Judging by the number of people thinking its cute vs gross, I don't think your gross factor tolerance increases with age, it must be widely acceptable behavior for young children! ;)

That is so funny. I am in desperate need of a playgroup myself, as my toddler is plotting to take over the world and I feel I should distract him with pursuits a little less dangerous (like eating playdoh and jumping off playsets).

FiFi is hilarious. What a cutie. And I love how the dog just steps in to pick up where she left off. hehe

It is NOT your imagination. Just means you've become an even better mom, is all. :)

LOVE the pony tails!

I love your little fifi! that is so cute!!
I couldn't agree more with you on the 3rd time around. Baby girl has been signed up for preschool once a week, ballet once a week, art once a week and swimming once a week.!

I have gotten more and more relaxed about germs and gross stuff with each kid. The third, our baby, eats cheerios off the food all the time. It helps keep me motivated to keep my floors clean!

Bwahaha. That's The Feenster right there! ;-)

LOVE appearances by the voice of OHmommy.

She's so darn cute with those pigtails!

She is too stinking cute. And she's totally going to get kicked out of playgroup for being a bad influence!

I love Fifi. She's too adorable. What does it say about me that I found that not at all gross? And,that I have always shared food with my dog?

I am in dire need of a playgroup for Lou, especially now that girl can walk.

Oh yeah and she absolutely loves to eat our dog's food. I am guessing because it is holistic organic and made out of duck. It probably tastes a lot better then my cooking!

I hope you get one put together soon :)

Love this! I was thinking it was a good that it wasn't the dog/cat food she was eating! Thats what mine would have been doing :)

What? What was gross? I'm at a loss here. Watched it twice. Saw a kid eating yogurt off the floor. No big deal. Even managed to feed the dog at the same time? GENIUS plan.

Love the pigtails.

Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? said...

Yeah, we do food off the floor, too. Doesn't it help with antibodies and stuff?

Well, maybe it's not socially acceptable, so I hope she had a good time at playgroup!

Angie [A Whole Lot of Nothing] said...

Be glad it's not dirty carpet (not that I would know).

Yes, I think some socialization refinement is in order soon.

This is gross. Kids do the funniest and grossest things. She will probably kill you when she is 18 and you want to pull this out to show everyone. Ha Ha!
