Expecting a new addition...

This is the wreath that hangs on my front door that my mother-in-law hand crafted for my 30th birthday.

She also, as the mother-of-the-groom, acted as the florist for our wedding and created center pieces that would put Martha Stewart to shame. She knows how much I adore flowers and has filled our home with beautiful arrangements this being one of them.

Every spring I look forward to hanging this sentimental wreath to greet our visitors.

There is another reason why this wreath is so special and why I might not be able to ever part with it. Without fail, every spring, when I am knee deep in spring cleaning and feverishly scrubbing my abode I notice a new addition.

"Guys! Hurry!!! Look what I found." My voice echos throughout the house awakening my little chickadees.

It's become a tradition for us. I place my bucket full of Mr. Clean bubbles down, wipe my hands clean on my yoga pants and lift each one of my children up on my shoulders to peer through the glass of my front door.

"Awwwwwww....."

And without fail, every spring, I smile. The Robins are back. Which for us Midwesterns means... no more snow in our forecast.

that is a beautiful wreath. my mom has this same sort of vibe that attracts robins to lay their beautiful eggs where my children could see them year after year. she lives in a log house, and the robin always laid them in a next on the highest log end, and my mom would spot my children as they climbed the crossed log ends until they could peer quietly in at the eggs.

they might've been fake eggs. i don't know. or care.

I miss the Robins!!! I haven't seen any for probably 6 years. They wre my favorite when I was younger and lived in Illinois. And they couldn't have a prettier egg.
What is it about little bird eggs that can make you so happy? I had a tree right out of a window once where the bird nested and it was at eye level. Not only did I get to see the egg, but everyday I was able to watch the Mama feed the Baby. It was pretty cool!

I love robins eggs. Not only are they beautiful, but they remind me of goodies from Tiffanys!

Beautiful wreath, too. It is so nice to have family members that share their talents.

My next door neighbor has a planter hanging from the eve of the gazebo, and yesterday, while working in the yard, I saw a robin sitting on her nest in that planter. Safe from critters like cats and raccoons, she has found the perfect spot for her nest. I will take pictures and post them soon.

Grant threw a handful of robbin's eggs down the slide the other day. The bird had put a nest in the playhouse and laid the eggs in it. When I explained that he killed the baby birds in the eggs he cried. I felt terrible. He was just being a curious boy.

Life can be hard.

Those are always the nicest to see! We seem them every year at my in-law's, perched in a nest in a tree by their balcony. The prettiest colour in the world!

Love that wreath! And how sweet for the kids to see the eggs. Glad it's spring time. Though, that doesn't mean much to me here in Chile. It's about to get cold!

beautiful wreath. i have to agree with Jessica, tiffany's!! robins have made a nest atop of my garage door opener and set up house in my garage, cannot see the eggs, but we know they are there!

Is the nest actually a part of the wreath? That's amazing. What a wonderful thing to watch. We had a robin's nest just outside our kitchen window once, and it was wonderful to watch the whole process.

Your MIL is very talented. WOW!

My MIL had a nest in one of her potted plants and we got to see the baby birds being fed a couple of weeks ago. And now? They've already left the nest!

There is something about the blue of a real robin's egg. No paint store can match the real thing and it really does make you smile.

That is the coolest! The robbins around here nest farther from the house to stay clear of the cats, dogs, kids...

That is wonderful, such a great harbinger of spring. We don't have that many robins here in Florida, I miss them too.

Lol. We would make my mom breakfast in bed every year. The day before a can of whipped cream and strawberries would appear in the fridge, and my mom would always manage to mention something about how her favorite breakfast was waffles with those two items atop them. But of course, every morning she was surprised. Even when I was in high school and could figure out this little ruse we kept it up because it was more fun to pretend it wasn't going to happen and "surprise" her in the morning. So basically my mom bought her own breakfast, but at least she didn't have to make it!
Moms put up with a lot, most especially on their special day, here is hoping you get that key! And believe me, once your kids are all moved out, that gift card will be awesome. Shopping time all to yourself! My mom loves it.

My mother in law has a bird that lives in her wreath and it just had babies. Three so adorable. The girls and I got a small peak on Easter. How appropriate. New life on Resurrection Sunday!

Awww! I miss seeing robin's eggs so much! I saw them a lot in Sardinia, where I'm from. But for some reason I never see robins in Switzerland. Huh. Weird.
