Now (kind of) opened for playdates

Our house was flooded in February.

Our insurance agency paid for the cost of the entire "clean-up." The final bill was nearly $5,000. And then they generously wrote a check for $324.89 for the rebuilding of the basement, master bathroom, roof and computer room. Thrilled that we had stumbled across a jack pot the husband and I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to refinance our house and throw ourselves into a complete remodel.

My husband likes to call this remodel, "If you give OHmommy a flood..." Well. She will want a complete remodel of the downstairs.

Come on in. Please take off your shoes in the newly tiled bathroom. No before photos... because who takes pictures of a hideous 80s bathroom with a white tiled floor, horrible cabinets and a wall of mirrors?

We ordered standard cabinets that the husband dressed up with molding for that "custom cabinetry" feel. On the top and sides. Sexy cabinet, isn't it?

We "stole" the mirror from my parent's basement ping-pong room that was gathering dust. Used the same sink. New paint. New fixtures.

One room completely done in the house that love built.

Which means we are now open for playdates if your children do not mind nail guns in the computer room, walking across sub floors in the kitchen and eating microwaved chicken nuggets.

Stay tuned. The mud room will be completed by next weekend if my husband is motivated enough. I'm off to the Salvation Army tomorrow, in search of a cheer leading costume to get this remodel really going.

It looks beautiful! We are about to remodel our entire house. You are much braver than I though. We moved out. I couldn't imagine washing my dishes in the bathroom sink or hanging out with workmen all day. Apparently my husband is not as handy as yours.

:-)

Ooh, so pretty! I'm realizing with some of our "mini-remodeling" that it always seems like it will be easier (and faster) than it actually is. I blame HGTV.
Good works you've done, though!

If you give OHmommy a nail gun, you might want to get out of the way! Very cute, and nice new bath!

LOL! I love remodels. I especially love doing the work myself. The mirror is awesome, BTW. Kudos to your parents for excellent taste.

The bathroom looks great. Good luck on the rest of it. Iparty sells costumes year round. Don't know if you have one near you. Good luck with the costume.

Love the mirror. My mother has always used architectural salvage in her decorating - and this looks so much like some of the pieces I remember.

I am jaw-dropped, indrawn breath in awe of how nice that looks.

WANT that mirror. Although I doubt I could think of the colours and so on to make it really look awesome (like you did)

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!!

We did a revamp of our kitchen almost 2 summers ago... and while we were at it, ripped out the entire first floor tiles, replaced flooring with hardwood in the family room ... it kept going. Now we've got to finish the laundry, our bedroom and our basement... I'm excited but also nervous. Renovation is like a virus, hard to get out of the system :).

Cannot wait to see more...wish I could come by for a playdate... I'd bring drinks ;).

...and I also LOVE that mirror!

I'm thinking that you in a cheerleader costume might slow down progress. You know...MrOHmommy might suddenly need a break from working. Often.

Oooh! $324! Big bucks, babe.

Seriously? That's all they paid you for that disaster?

I love the mirror!! The bathroom is beautiful! I cannot wait to see more pictures of FINISHED rooms..as I am sure you cannot wait to TAKE pictures of finished rooms!!

What a gorgeous mirror. I would build a whole room around a mirror like that. Nicely done! Doesn't it feel good to DIY? We're all about that here (and I could tell some horror stories about wallpaper stripping). Only problem is getting that last 10% done, which is always hard for us. May the Force be with you.

Incredible! Looks gorgeous. And I love that it is part of the "remodel of love" series.

Cheerleading outfits & husbands . . . it's remarkable how simple things (or our men) are sometimes, aren't they? ;-)

Looks like you are off and running and moving along nicely to a really classy remodel! Befitting your blog title, for sure!
Now, although I do envy you being able to remodel the whole place I don't envy your doing that and living there -or trying to do that -with construction all around you. Been there, done that and trust me, it is truly a royal pain in the behind pretty much from start to finish but then, when it's done, you sit back and say "Looks good but I wish I'd thought to do this or that or something else. Never ends, does it?

Ooooh - I love remodeling, and I love more your motivation tactics! Bravo!

I can think of ALL KINS of Cheer Leading Costumes that might inspire the work. On the other hand ... they COULD delay things just a bit.

The cheerleader costume sounds like a good idea! ;p

Looks beautiful! I love it. Now..mud rooms. A lot of mommy blogs talk about mud rooms...but I think I just don't get the lingo. Is it really a mud room like they have at a spa?
