St. Whipped Husband

My husband is nothing short of a saint.

He is an amazing father and an equally amazing husband. The last time I wrote about him I was careful and reserved with my words as not to come off appearing spoiled.

This time around I have no reservations. He is awesome. He spoils me often. And if this blog documents my life then I want my children to know that their father is an incredible husband that works hard to keep our marriage and happiness sacred.

Our children should know this.

Some Sunday ago, I woke up to the aroma of chocolate chip pancakes and the sound of children giggling. I walked downstairs to see my husband flipping pancakes while wearing three tutus and one pink tiara. "You should blog about this." He grinned and accepted a beaded necklace from Fifi.

This past Saturday after a week full of life with three small kids with no lunch hour, no coffee break, no adult conversation over a water cooler, I was stinking exhausted. My husband was busy at work with patients while I was having a horrible, terrible, no-good, very bad Saturday at home. The whining. Crying. Tantrums. Arguing. The works. My husband took one look at me when he got home and barely exchanging words with me he whisked all three of them away. Nearly four hours later and minutes before bath time he arrived with a bouquet of flowers, a "thank you" for being our mom card, and, and, and a pair of classy gold hoop earrings that I have had my eye on at the jewelry store, "The flowers and card are from the kids to apologize and the earrings are from me to congratulate you on finishing 6 weeks of fitness boot camp. I am proud of you. You look so great."

I know.

A saint.

Tonight I think I will make a Sunday pork roast in my pleated skirt and high heels to match the actions of my saint of a husband. Whom is currently across town parading with Jay and Lola at a pumpkin festival while Fifi naps at home and I bathe in bubbles soaking all of my good fortunes in.

What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man.

My husband forgot to jump my car this week, so I've had NO CAR. He called last night to make sure I was getting the laundry done. He did make time for a little lovin'...in the MORNING. Ugh.

But....he dropped $500 and took the night off of work on Friday so that I could take my boys to see my favorite band in the whole world play in concert, and when I had to leave early to get the baby, he stayed with them and braved public transit to get them home at midnight.

So I totally forgive him.

Lisa said...

That would surely make him a saint! Really - lucky, lucky you!

What a great husband Jay will be someday, and what fabulous men Lola & Fifi will have to find!

And he's pretty handsome too!
Seriously, I love reading stuff like this - having children changes us all so much as individuals and as couples. You are so lucky to have such a wonderful man who can so clearly read your needs without you needing to ask, and treats you like the Queen you are! You truly are an example of a couple who will last through the years and set an amazing example for your children.
Oh, and if you lived closer, you guys would be the couple DH and I would be wanting to do dinner with.
